In a certain sense, Elysia’s thinking... kind of made sense...
Cough cough.
Anyway, she didn’t say any of that out loud.
She just lightly tapped the screen to continue the story.
Since the Herrscher of Corruption had opened her mouth, she clearly wasn’t planning to stop at just a few lines.
She continued, “Because I’ll never let go of the chance to assimilate you.”
“As long as I make you a part of me too, I’ll fully seize control over that command, and the things that can destroy me will no longer exist. Everything they’ve done... will become meaningless.”
【So does this confirm the current generation’s Herrscher of Corruption really does have some humanity?】
【Elysia wanted to redeem the Honkai, to make even Herrschers carry human nature. Of course the Herrscher of Corruption would be one of her targets. Maybe that’s one of the reasons Elysia came to meet her.】
【Wanting to live is already a form of human nature.】
As the players were still debating whether the Herrscher of Corruption had humanity or not, her next line carried a tinge of provocation.
“To cherish your companions’ efforts and fulfill their wishes… isn’t that what Elysia would do?”
【???】
【You sound like you actually knew her or something.】
Elysia, however, only smiled as she looked at the Herrscher of Corruption.
“You really do know me well… just not completely.”
Players: Exactly! Tell her, Elysia!!
“Everything has two sides. Your special power is indeed impressive… so I want to use it to do something bold. To give Elysian Realm its grand, rightful finale.”
“When I told another girl—one who’s read the pages of my life—about this, she really understood me.”
“That’s why I like her.”
The moment Elysia mentioned Mei, her smile brightened even further.
Meanwhile, the Herrscher of Corruption was staring intently at her.
And the moment she heard that name, her voice turned icy.
“Raiden… Mei…”
Gnashing teeth intensifies.jpg
“You’re saying… compared to me, she is more qualified to become ‘Elysia’?”
The Herrscher shot back.
Players could only spam question marks in the chat.
This… enterprise-grade comprehension?
Or more like: what is it with Herrschers lately? Are you and the Herrscher of Sentience related?
Hmm, speaking of Miss Sentience, they’d always kind of wondered...
What would happen if she ever entered Elysian Realm?
Sadly, the story never went there.
But if they ever saw Elysia and Miss Sentience interact in reality, they might get a glimpse?
Those two...
Herrscher of Sentience: “Let me show you what true menace looks like.”
Elysia: “You’re so cute~~”
Herrscher of Sentience: “…”
She’d get completely handled by Elysia.
…
Back to the topic at hand.
The Elysia in-game—who obviously didn’t know the Herrscher of Sentience—wasn’t sharing the same thoughts as the players.
Tilting her head slightly, she said, “Hmm? Mei is just Mei… she’s not Elysia, and she’s not anyone else.”
Of course, had she stopped there, the Herrscher of Corruption probably would’ve exploded right then and there.
But Elysia was Elysia.
Unlike Hua... Hua... Hua...
Hua: “…”
She added, “And you’re you—irreplaceably so. Why must you try to become Elysia?”
Clearly, Elysia knew how to talk to people.
The Herrscher of Corruption: “……”
She fell silent.
Or rather… lost in thought.
“I don’t know. I don’t understand.”
Her response made many players think—if only the Herrscher of Corruption had talked to Elysia like this earlier, maybe none of this would’ve happened to Elysian Realm.
After all, Elysia seemed really good at raising children.
But unfortunately…
The Herrscher had chosen to delete Elysia back then—what she thought was the most logical decision.
Which had brought everything to this irreparable point.
Perhaps that’s just fate. You rarely get what you wish for.
“But I still have time to find the answer… and the opportunity.”
Elysia could only sigh. “So it has to end this way, after all?”
The screen dimmed.
“……”
“……”
Like time passed slowly in silence.
Elysia stared quietly at the silent Herrscher, waiting for her to speak again.
Players were also holding their breath, wondering what would happen next.
Could it be…?
Could it be that Elysia and the Herrscher of Corruption won’t fight?
After all, Elysia looked like she was still trying to talk her down. And the Herrscher… seemed shaken?
So even though she destroyed this home, even though she’d done so many wrong things…
If there was still a way to preserve Elysian Realm… if the Flame-Chasers could return, one by one…
Some players were honestly a bit conflicted.
But that hesitation vanished completely the moment the Herrscher gave her answer.
“I’ve thought about it long enough. This… is my will.”
“I want to live. No matter what, I want to keep living. Just as you love humanity, I cherish my own existence more than anything.”
It was clear—this world could not bear a Herrscher with such a “mad” will to live.
Elysia understood.
She did what she could, and said one last thing.
“But existence isn’t limited to just survival.”
“Our end, however, only has one path.”
The Herrscher, resolute, responded quickly.
“……”
But after that, she fell strangely silent.
And then gave a promise she herself didn’t know why she was making.
“After we leave this place, I’ll weave you the most beautiful dream. One where you’re with… them.”
“I’m sorry. I can’t let you leave this place.”
Elysia shook her head. “And being with them… doesn’t have to be a dream, does it?”
What did she mean?
Just what kind of grand and dazzling finale was Elysia envisioning?
Players were getting more and more curious.
But the story wouldn’t pause for their speculation.
In fact, the next moment, the Herrscher said something that completely shifted everyone’s focus.
“…So be it.”
“I accept your challenge—Herrscher of Human: Ego.”
Her body was shrouded in black mist, fusing with the entire cityscape.
Her increasingly indistinct form bore a sorrowful smile.
In the darkness, a whisper echoed.
“Back then, the reason I became like this… it really was just because…”
“I thought you were… beautiful. That’s all.”
【????】
【That’s kind of ridiculous.】
【Wait, so the Herrscher of Corruption is also an Elysia simp? I’m shocked.】
【Elysian Realm only has two types: Elysia fans and twisted Elysia fans. Apparently, ‘you’re beautiful’ was the first thing Corruption thought. The Honkai has a consistent aesthetic.】
【I mean… she’s not wrong. Elysia is indeed beautiful!!】
【Facts. Absolute facts!!】
…
And thus, the main story paused—for now.
What came next was the animated short.
【It’s finally here! When does the short play? I’ve been waiting so long!】
【Told you the ending would be sweet, didn’t I? Believe me now?】
【Sweet? This… yeah, this is sweet. Too sweet. Kinda fatal levels of sweet.】
【This is so sweet… If I ever have a kid in the future, I’ll definitely let them play Honkai Impact 3rd. This story is so educational (lol)】
【?????】
That “???” bullet comment became a turning point in the stream chat.
【To the person above… I mourn for your future child, lmao.】
【The loving parent’s sword strikes from above.】
【“Child: I don’t understand, but I feel emotionally damaged.”】
【This is humanity’s legacy. The ever-burning flame (in a fog).】
【Forgive me for laughing.】
【Already picturing it: Your kid looks up after playing and asks, ‘Mom/Dad… are you emotionally scarred or something?’】
