We’ll skip over parsing Mobius’s lines for now—let’s talk about the comments just now.
The players were really just trying to shift their focus, hoping to recover even a little.
Just a little would be enough.
After all, Elysia did say to “smile,” right?
At the very end, they wanted to fulfill that wish of hers too.
It’s just that...
Well, the effect wasn’t nothing, but it might as well have been.
Especially with this CG showing all thirteen Flame-Chasers appearing together.
The more they looked, the more beautiful it was. The more they looked, the more joyful it felt. And yet, the more they looked… the harder it was to hold back tears.
Some things… it doesn’t matter how many times you see them. You don’t get used to them. You don’t get tougher.
Still, they wiped away tears and, with the utmost honesty, took screenshots.
【Everyone looks so good!!!】
【Is the background dusk? But why is the whole sky filled with light?】
【Maybe it’s dawn. Or more accurately, I think it’s both sunrise and sunset—it depends on your will.】
“Please don’t forget—”
Just then, Elysia’s voice returned.
“Elysian Realm records nothing more than a simple story.”
“A story filled with pain and failure, betrayal and farewell, but also joy and happiness, warmth and emotion.”
“Sorrow doesn’t vanish into thin air—but warm feelings will be treasured forever in the heart.”
That’s the magic of this story.
Yes, there is sorrow, but it is also filled with beauty and inspiration.
And that—becomes the strength to keep moving forward.
That’s what Elysia believed.
“The legacy left for future generations shouldn’t only be hatred and duty. Only those who’ve seen the brilliance of our era can understand what we fought for.”
Yeah...
The players understood now.
Every Flame-Chaser, the reasons they fought, the choices they made—each one was deeply moving.
They kept finding themselves short on tissues and in constant need of hydration. But so what?
“Cold knowledge and technology—let textbooks teach that. What the Flame-Chasers should pass on is the honor of being one, the reason for fighting.”
“That is the soul entrusted to us on this journey of chasing fire.”
【This line is too good.】
【Everyone listen carefully… this is… Elysia-sensei’s Final Lesson.】
【??? If you keep this up, I’m gonna go edit a dual-wield montage video and see who ends up more emotionally destroyed!】
And thus—
A now-iconic Honkai Impact 3rd dual-wield video was born from this very moment.
…
Back to the story.
Elysia-sensei’s final lesson continued, drawing to its close.
“You who come after will witness the marks of our lives, the imprints of our souls, and within them, find the answers you seek.”
“Not pushed or dragged forward, not walking a path laid out by someone else.”
“But choosing with these thoughts: ‘What do I want to do?’ ‘What should I do?’—and forging your own path, leaving your own mark.”
Elysia’s voice rose, once again injecting everyone’s hearts with strength to move forward.
Don’t stop here.
Walk proudly toward the future that belongs to you.
“With your own will, toward your chosen goal, live your life to the fullest, in your own way, as the protagonist of your story.”
“You see, I did it. Everyone did. The era I knew, and the thirteen born from it—they all did.”
“Thousands of trajectories intertwined and resonated, birthing a miracle in full bloom.”
She looked at Mei.
From the game’s perspective—
It also felt like she was looking straight at the players.
Her voice softened, gentle and sincere.
“This is the eternity of beauty. What I believe in... is the True Self.”
“This is Elysian Realm—the story of the thirteen Flame-Chasers who chased fire.”
“And with this, our story ends.”
“And from now on...”
Voices of the other Flame-Chasers, light and heavy, overlapped one another—
Finishing the final line together with Elysia:
“It becomes your story now.”
The moment that line dropped, the players' defenses shattered completely.
Scene after scene of their encounters with the thirteen Flame-Chasers played through their minds.
For a long time, a very long time...
Their fingers had hovered over the “No” button so many times. But now, they clenched their fists and finally gathered the courage.
Mei did the same. She spoke deeply:
“Thank you...”
“I won’t forget.”
She knew—
She couldn’t remain still any longer, couldn’t let the past bind her.
For all that she cherished.
For all the blessings received in Elysian Realm.
She would take that step forward.
She would leave this place and head toward the future.
“Farewell, thirteen Flame-Chasers…”
“Farewell… Elysia.”
Mei turned away.
She faced away from the thirteen Flame-Chasers.
Under their watchful gazes, she walked forward into the darkness.
A path destined to be filled with thorns.
But even in that darkness, there would be light.
The road ahead may be difficult, but the warmth in her heart—and the Signetleft by the thirteen Flame-Chasers—would give her the strength to push on.
…
After Mei left Elysian Realm—
The game screen returned to the main interface of Elysian Realm.
Everyone stared at the screen, lost in thought, hearts heavy and a little hollow.
But why did it also feel… warm inside?
As if not only Mei, but they too had gained strength from the thirteen Flame-Chasers, from Elysia.
They were sad—but deeply moved.
Mmm...
In the end—
MiHoYo’s writers really are despicable.
Even after stealing so many of their tears, they still made them sincerely grateful for such a beautiful story.
A story recording the grandeur and nobility of the Flame-Chasers.
And yet, also capturing the ordinary joys and struggles of people—just like them.
Looking back, they had been immersed in this story for a very long time.
Back when they first entered Elysian Realm, they’d met someone unforgettable. Her beauty left a lasting impression.
Then they followed her—cheerfully and without hesitation.
They saw many ordinary people, many Flame-Chasers, many lives filled with struggle, effort, sorrow, and the scattered glimmers of beauty.
This story was distant, yet real—etched deep in their hearts.
But now, they could never return.
They had finished reading the “simple story” called Elysian Realm.
Now—
It was like waking up from a dream.
Would it all soon fade into haziness and blur with time?
That might be why they couldn’t calm down.
Time would eventually erode their memories. Elysia’s adorable face, her sweet voice, and everything she did would all slowly fade from their minds.
But—it was time to let go.
Like Mei did.
To believe in the emotions within.
To believe in the strength found in this story, and that it would accompany them far, far forward…
Farewell, thirteen Flame-Chasers who chased fire…
Farewell, Elysia.
