MGSFV?! Chapter 376. Farewell
🕑 Added 2025-10-16 23:00:03 +0000 UTCMGSFV?! Chapter 376. Farewell
Faced with wave after wave of “emotional assault,”
the players had already completely forgotten their earlier bravado—or rather, the moment their composure shattered right after barely finishing their emotional defenses,
they were already about ready to give up.
Forget it.
If even Kevin couldn’t hold back his tears, then… it was totally normal for them, right?
Might as well place an emergency order for some tissue packs—no, entire tissue rolls.
Back to the story—
Moments later, the roller coaster sped through several more zones of Elysian Realm.
Elysia suddenly asked Mei, “Mei… are you disappointed?”
“After trying so hard, and in the end, it still all ends in a goodbye.”
“……”
If she said she wasn’t disappointed, that would be a lie.
But still… but still.
Everyone’s faces twisted into a smile more bitter than tears,
and gave their answer.
【No. Never.】 n
“At the very least, we still get to say goodbye properly, don’t we?”
Mei continued.
“It feels like… I’ve been saying goodbye to someone over and over.”
She looked at Elysia, recalling many things.
“But… ‘A tragedy is not an end, but the beginning of hope,’ right?”
Mei asked Elysia—and offered her own understanding first.
“Even if the future cannot be changed, I still want to choose how I reach it.”
After this journey through the Remembrance Vessel, she had truly come to understand many things.
“What matters most is what I choose to believe in during this journey. That’s what will determine what I find when I reach the end.”
“And the ending—will reveal a completely different meaning because of it.”
“Like right now…”
Mei placed her hand gently over her heart.
Parting hurts, and she was reluctant too.
But she… had come to terms with it.
“I met you in Elysian Realm, touched your lives, felt your will, and witnessed the entirety of thirteen heroes’ existences…”
“The memories we created won’t vanish.”
“The feelings we left behind won’t fade.”
Mei’s voice grew firm, as she submitted her “answer sheet” to Elysia—the final examiner of the Remembrance Vessel.
“They will be carried by me, into the future… continuing on, forever and ever…”
“This is something only humans can do.”
“And it’s also what makes stories so incredible.”
【I will remember. Thank you, Elysian Realm, for this story.】
【Memory is proof that everyone truly existed.】
“Mhm, just like Elysian Realm.”
Elysia replied with a warm smile.
“There will be people in the future too, who’ll see us as we are now and… leave behind something in their hearts, right?”
【Yes! Of course!】
【We’re seeing it now too, Elysia.】
And not just now—but in the future as well.
Every time Honkai Impact 3rd welcomes a new player, this nearly sealed-off story will be opened again.
That emotion, that resonance…
Will continue to exist and be passed on—forever.
That is the romantic beauty of stories—and what makes them so special.
“Then, we need to leave behind a finale even better than history—a grand conclusion with no regrets.”
Elysia had made her decision.
Before activating Model 666, she wanted to meet the Herrscher of Corruption one more time.
She wanted to bring back everyone.
Can it be done?
Of course it can!
If she could live in their memories, then in the same way—they could live in hers~~
So…
This time, it was her turn to go to everyone’s side.
And after speaking of this—
The wheels kept turning, carrying the two of them into the distance.
For the first time, Mei saw the full view of Elysian Realm… watching as it slowly slipped away from her.
Thus, it came to an end.
Even though this roller coaster ride was incredibly slow—
After all, Elysia wouldn’t lie, right?
Still… it was too fast.
Yes, everyone still felt it was too fast…
When the moment of parting truly arrives—
No amount of time, no amount of heartfelt goodbyes… can truly soothe the reluctance in one’s heart.
“And now, our story… is really about to end.”
Everyone paused at that line.
They couldn’t bring themselves to click forward.
They simply couldn’t.
In their hearts, they knew—everything that needed to be told had already been told.
So if they pressed forward, it would mean the end of the Elysian Realm arc.
Just like the tears they had shed—there would be no more.
But…
An end? Their tears were all gone? Nothing left?
The writers: We think you can still cry a bit more… ahem.
The real final blow was coming.
There’s no beating the writers… give up.
When players finally mustered every ounce of resolve and pressed forward with tear-streaked faces—
Elysia’s hopeful voice rang out again.
“Mei, this is the last time. Just like before, go see everyone one more time and… say goodbye properly, okay?”
“…Mhm.”
With Mei’s choked reply,
the roller coaster entered a sea of light.
A gentle glow enveloped Mei, and voices that felt familiar whispered in her ears.
They were memories of those who once existed within the Remembrance Vessel—offering their final blessings to the successor.
At last, the journey spanning fifty thousand years came to an end.
And now, they would each walk toward their own tomorrow.
At this point,
everyone pressed their lips tight,
forcing themselves to accept the ending of Elysian Realm.
It was over.
Next would be Elysia’s final confrontation with the Herrscher of Corruption.
The writers had already played every emotional card they could—
Or so the players thought.
The screen brightened again.
Huh?
What now?
The scene shifted suddenly—now it was the Moon.
A broken half of a paw-shaped coin shone quietly in the void.
The dreamlike hero, Pardofelis, Nine Lives Never Fade.
“Mei-nee, I’m gonna share all my good luck with you, so don’t worry, okay?”
“Whether you find money in a coat pocket you haven’t worn in ages, or get an extra bottle from the vending machine…”
Pardo paused, then continued proudly:
“That just means my luck is working!”
And she couldn’t help but add—
“Hehe~ since you’re my friend, Mei-nee, this is a friendship freebie!”
Yep—she hadn’t changed one bit.
Hearing that cheerfully bouncy voice, the players couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Pfft~ hahaha… sniff sniff
They laughed—
And then, couldn’t hold back the tears anymore.
Ah, Pardo…
Everyone saw that adorable girl again in their minds.
She couldn’t be called brave. Her personality was ordinary—timid, afraid of death, lazy…
She was just like an ordinary person.
When asked, “Would you be willing to sacrifice your life to save the world?” she would hesitate for a long time.
Yet whether it was in the Remembrance Vessel or in reality—
she, as a mortal, burst forth with incomparable courage and radiated a brilliance that even heroes would find dazzling.
And now, this mortal who had never once shamed the name of Flame-Chaser…
could finally lay down her arms and rest.
As everyone choked back sobs, their expressions softened again.
In their hearts, they whispered:
May you have a long and lively dream. One where you are safe, untroubled, and full of joy.
Good night, kitty.
……
The scene changed.
To Mount Taixu.
Familiar peaks, familiar stone statues.
The transient Flame-Chaser, Hua, held the flame that would ignite the next era.
“Mei, I think I finally understand the story of that class monitor you spoke of.”
“I understand her… and I understand what I felt in those moments.”
Her voice rose slightly, bringing warmth with it.
“Thank you all, for helping the future me. As for the past…”
“It’s long since become a part of the future, hasn’t it?”
All the players understood what Hua meant.
After all, she was the Flame-Chaser they were most familiar with.
They had long since known her story by heart.
Naturally, they also knew that the real Hua—Fu Hua—was still alive.
So although they were deeply moved, their sorrow was not too heavy.
They just wanted to whisper softly:
Hua… Fu Hua, may the road ahead be sheltered for you, no matter how stormy it becomes.
This was the ending they had always hoped for—
after a lifetime of hardship, this strong girl could finally rest.
……
Next—
The scene shifted to space.
The lone Ark drifted silently through the deep heavens.
The stellar Flame-Chaser, Griseo, had taken Kosma’s place aboard the Ark, beginning a voyage without beginning or end.
It had already been fifty thousand years.
“The clouds are beautiful, the stars are beautiful, and Mei-nee is beautiful too.”
“Me and the stars—we’ll both be watching over Mei-nee.”
“We’ll become stars, and protect Mei-nee.”
“So we’ll always be together.”
These words.
This ending…
Griseo was still so young.
Letting a child drift through outer space for fifty thousand years…
Truly, MiHoYo! Please be kinder to Griseo.
MiHoYo! Please give her a better ending!!
Once again, a wave of emotion crashed through them.
“……”
Elysia’s expression faltered,
but she still forced herself to show her best smile.
……
The scene shifted again.
On a laboratory test platform, the Stamp of Infinity remained.
The infinite Flame-Chaser, Mobius.
“Didn’t expect you to walk out of here completely unchanged.”
“What a pity. A little more or a little less—change is what makes us better, isn’t it?”
She paused, her voice uncharacteristically soft—just barely noticeable.
“Forget it. Don’t you dare say you’ve ‘gained a lot of memories.’ I don’t dwell on the past.”
“So… do your best out there, my little lab rat. Don’t let Mobius down.”
Mobius… Snake-sis…
Even at the end, you’re still so stubborn.
The Remembrance Vessel is about to disappear—can’t you just say a proper goodbye?
Once Model 666 activates, if anything’s left behind in Elysian Realm, will it just be Mobius’ sharp tongue?
Pfft~~ Hahaha… sniff sniff…
……
The story continued.
Back to the Moon.
The moment the scene appeared, countless players who had just been sobbing suddenly held their breath.
On screen—
Kosma’s harmonica lay in the lunar soil, glowing faintly.
The radiant Flame-Chaser, Kosma, sat quietly in the shadows of broken ruins.
His ending: like a moth to flame—fading in darkness,
but as a hero.
“...I probably don’t need to say much. You’ll walk further than we did. You’ll overcome the obstacles we could not.”
“So—take care on your journey.”
You too—farewell.
A hero who held steadfast to his beliefs.
Tears streamed from their faces, but they still smiled through them.
Surely, you’ve seen it—
the long, endless night has been lifted just a little, and the light of dawn will soon shine through.
When the flowers bloom—
we will offer them to you.
Because…
that flower, known throughout the world, is called the New World.
……
The scene turned again—beneath a blooming cherry blossom tree.
Petals danced in the wind, swirling together in its embrace.
The momentary Flame-Chaser, Sakura, stood under the tree with her back to Mei.
“It’s been a pleasure, Miss Mei.”
“Whether in reality or in Elysian Realm, there haven’t been many I could truly talk with.”
With a rare sense of emotion, she turned slightly, just enough to reveal her smiling lips.
The sakura-colored girl looked beautiful beneath moonlight and blossoms.
“To have fought by your side is my honor. In the days to come—”
“May your blade find fortune.”
Such a beautiful scene.
Such sincere words.
Such a gentle farewell.
But…
But…
Every other Flame-Chaser’s farewell scene had been real… except Sakura’s.
Sakura…
She died at the base of the Flame-Chasers.
She died on the road to save her sister.
At the end of her life, she protected her pride as a sister—
and at the moment of death, she begged Kevin to bring her home,
back to the cherry blossom tree of her homeland.
But…
Players still remembered—Kevin once said that when he arrived with Sakura’s remains,
her hometown had already been annihilated by a Honkai-induced nuclear strike.
Everywhere he looked…
there wasn’t a single cherry blossom left.
MiHoYo…
They really… really went and did this.
……
And then—
To a tranquil forest and a still lake.
Perhaps within the Sumeru Seed?
The sagely Flame-Chaser, Su.
“Visitor, have you found the answer you were looking for?”
“Even if you still feel uncertain, don’t worry. You still have plenty of time to digest it.”
His voice, as always, was as gentle as a spring breeze.
Even those who had still been grieving felt a moment of healing—a quiet courage to keep walking forward.
“The process of reflection is, in itself, meaningful.”
“You—and all of you—will find your own path.”
In the next moment—
The scene returned to the Moon.
The war-torn ground was littered with countless shattered Divine Keys.
The annihilating Flame-Chaser, Kalpas, fell in battle on the Moon.
That was always who he was.
When faced with battle, when faced with powerful enemies,
he never once backed down.
Letting the fury in his heart ignite his very life,
he stood tall—unbroken, undefeated.
And yet, for a berserker like him, the only thing he ever truly wanted…
was simply a home where he could belong.
“Alright. Go.”
Perhaps sensing the flood of emotions swelling within everyone as they stared at the battlefield,
Kalpas took the initiative to speak up—chasing them off.
He emphasized the word “go,” and didn’t say “get lost.”
That alone… said everything.
And so—players who had just barely managed to calm down, once again broke down completely.
Brother Kalpas, it’s the end already—couldn’t you just say a few more words!?
“Hm? You expecting me to say something sentimental?”
“Then you’re asking the wrong person.”
“But…”
He turned his back, his voice finally softening—just a little.
“I remember your name now… Raiden Mei.”
Players: ………
Don’t think we forgot.
Someone once swore they’d never remember a Herrscher’s name.
LOL (puts on sunglasses).
……
But even now—
It wasn’t over yet.
The screen shifted to the vastness of space.
Floating in the sky was a shattered pocket watch—
a symbol of the end of a certain Flame-Chaser.
The helical Flame-Chaser, Vill-V, likewise fell on the Moon.
The Magician: “Hey, Miss Mei! Surprise! I left a backdoor in your brain! Look for it when you get out~”
A backdoor… and it really exists.
Vill-V, she’s still somewhere in the system.
The Specialist: “Don’t listen to her nonsense. The backdoor I left can’t be discovered by anyone.”
The Conductor: “Wait, shouldn’t we first clarify that we didn’t leave a backdoor at all?!”
The True Self: “Sigh… I hope you never experience the horror of arguing with yourself. Well then—farewell.”
Vill-V’s goodbye, unsurprisingly full of surprises, also brought unexpected joy.
It reminded everyone of the very first time they met Vill-V.
Back then, they’d pegged her as a comedic relief character who livened up the atmosphere…
How they wished they could go back in time and ask themselves—
How could you ever think Vill-V was just that?
She clearly, clearly…
But it didn’t matter anymore.
Because the version of themselves who once gave Vill-V such strange evaluations…
had already been left behind.
Now, they were serious. Sincere.
……
The scene shifted to a boundless desert.
Once, there had been towering skyscrapers here, full of life and laughter.
But now…
All that remained was a single familiar golden goblet, buried in the sands.
A symbol of the shining years gone by—
a dreamlike ballad forged of gilded gold.
And it marked the Flame-Chaser of Gold, Eden—forever left behind in the old world.
“Thank you, Miss Mei. You’ve brought so much to Elysian Realm.”
As the big sister figure among the Flame-Chasers, Eden’s words held a special weight—
far more uplifting than those who came before.
“We have nothing to repay you with… except our blessings, and our hopes.”
“May civilization endure like a spark through time.”
“May this world shine like gold.”
Her words, growing more passionate by the line, stirred something indescribable in everyone.
Many Eden fans found themselves tapping rhythmically along with her parting message,
singing the final song of that era—
♪ Oh~ my beloved, may we never part ♪
♪ Oh~ my beloved, may this moment last forever… ♪
And then… they choked on their own sobs.
……
The next image—
A burning candelabra.
A glowing moth flew unceasingly toward the flame.
She—
represented the Flame-Chaser of Discipline, Aponia. This was her ending.
One who could see the future,
she had once committed many sins in an attempt to change it.
Until Elysia made her choice and freed civilization from the threads of fate,
Aponia too… made her final decision.
To merge herself with the Remembrance Vessel,
to protect and to preserve this journey—called Chasing Fire.
“The Remembrance Vessel reached the future I once foresaw: destruction and darkness.”
“But I’m glad… that it ended this way.”
Aponia spoke from the heart.
“So please, Mei… break free of fate.”
“You’ve already had the power to do so, all along.”
The third of the Thirteen Flame-Chasers—
the one who bore the Signet of Discipline, Aponia.
She reached a finality she could accept.
And with Aponia’s appearance, many players suddenly realized something:
The Flame-Chasers were showing up in a very familiar order.
Was this… reverse chronology?
Don’t tell us… Elysia is going to say something at the end?!
This…
Who could emotionally survive this?
With tangled feelings, they pressed on.
The screen changed again—
To a place both Mei and the players knew all too well.
The throne room of World Serpent.
The saving Flame-Chaser, Kevin, was already waiting.
“You’ve gained the approval of the Thirteen Flame-Chasers. I have nothing more to say.”
“Whether it’s the me here, or the me in the real world.”
“That’s right… he’s already waiting for you. I hope you both find the resolution you seek.”
“Stand tall and face the future, Herrscher of Thunder. You know—you can trust yourself.”
Staring at this cold, unfeeling man, and hearing his usual icy words…
The players had never understood him more than they did now.
Kevin…
They were wrong before, calling you a lunatic. They were completely, utterly wrong.
And so, there was one comment they absolutely had to send.
Setting down their half-spent tissues,
placing both hands on the keyboard, they began to type:
【Stop clinging to that throne, Kevin.】
【cool】 n
Countless icy-blue messages flooded the livestream screen.
……
And just after Kevin finished speaking—
“Ta-da~ And finally, we’re back to me again!”
Elysia!
She always appeared just at the right time, in just the right way.
The barrage of messages halted in an instant.
Don’t do this, MiHoYo. Please don’t…
The players chanted this silently in their hearts,
but they couldn’t tear their eyes from the screen.
Just for one more glimpse of her.
“After all, I was always the very first Number One, wasn’t I?”
“Elysia is always like this—both the beginning and the end of everything, right?”
“So this time… we really have to say goodbye.”
Goodbye…?
Can we really meet again?
That can’t be true.
When those two words were emphasized on screen,
players all silently agreed—there’s no way the writers used the right word here.
“Thank you, Mei.”
“Thank you for coming here, for meeting us, for speaking with us.”
“Thank you for being willing to remember our names, to listen to our stories.”
“As long as you remember us, this story will never disappear.”
As Elysia’s voice continued to fall gently—
the game screen began to blur.
Some players hurried to wipe away their tears, only to find it didn’t help.
Because… it wasn’t their tears blurring the screen—
The game’s resolution was actually dropping in real time.
???
Was this saying that Mei’s vision was blurred by tears too?
Mei!!!
“So now, I will entrust to you the final Signet of the True Self,
a name that carries the origin of all things—our thoughts, our blessings.
One day, it will become your new power.”
“And you… will give this name a new meaning.”
“We will remain in the past.”
“And you shall walk toward the future.”
“Then go forth and shine with a brilliance that belongs only to you—pure and beautiful.”
“Because—beautiful girls can do anything!”
The Flame-Chaser of the True Self, Elysia,
showed her sweetest smile once again.
To say goodbye.
Yes, the time had truly come.
Two options appeared before the players:
【Leave now.】
【Don’t…】
They looked at the two choices.
“……”
“……”
And fell into a long, long silence.
They thought they had been prepared.
But now that the moment had truly arrived…
They realized they weren’t ready at all.
They didn’t want to leave.
They didn’t want to part.
They didn’t want it to end.
But…
But…
Just like Kiana’s farewell with Himeko.
Maybe they could stall a little longer, say a few more reluctant words to Elysia, hear her voice a little longer.
But in the end… it would still end.
If it’s unavoidable, would it be better to face it head-on?
Surely Elysia would want to see them walk forward with confidence, right?
Some hardened their expressions.
And quietly chose:
【Leave now.】
But in truth, this group was small.
The rest chose—
【Don’t!!!】
“Aww, what’s wrong? If you don’t set out soon… it’ll really be too late, you know?”
The moment her voice ended—
the two options appeared again.
Again?!
MiHoYo! You really never miss a chance to emotionally destroy us!
【Don’t! Don’t! Don’t!】
“It’s okay… I know. You really can’t bear to part with me, can you? I feel the same.”
“But it’s okay, haven’t you already carried everything of mine?”
Once again, the options appeared.
But before that happened—
the entire livestream screen had already been flooded with 【Don’t】.
Of course. Who could really let go?
Even those who’d resolutely chosen “leave” earlier—
their hearts were still filled with reluctance.
They wanted to see Elysia for just a little longer,
hear her speak for just a bit more…
They wanted to remember her… always, always remember her.
【Don’t!!!】
“Ah, are you thinking—if we just keep it like this, we can talk forever?”
“Not fair tugging on a girl’s heartstrings like that… I might really cry”
This time—
The options changed: 【……】 and 【Don’t……】
Though most players' choices didn’t change.
Elysia felt their reluctance.
She paused. “……Alright.”
“It’s okay. When you’re not ready to move on,
just pause for a moment.”
“Then look beside you,
look behind you…”
“See—”
In the once-pure white world—
Light suddenly appeared.
A radiance like the rising sun.
“……We’re always right here.”
The Thirteen Flame-Chasers appeared one by one.
Each with a unique presence and posture.
Kevin stood stiffly, like a big guy who didn’t know how to handle the moment.
Elysia posed super cutely—of course she did.
Pardofelis stumbled behind the others with a can riding on her head.
Brother Kalpas still hadn’t taken off his mask…
And everyone else was there too.
Everyone was here.
Just like—
“Exactly like back then, isn’t it?”
Mei: “……”
Players: “……”
They watched the Flame-Chasers gazing ahead,
staring toward the distance.
As if looking at the future that they had entrusted to someone else.
They had lived with such pride,
and with unwavering will, composed a hymn of civilization with their lives.
Now, they passed on their hope, their future—
to the ones who would follow.
And in that moment, they seemed to hear the Flame-Chasers' final blessing:
Step beyond the tombs of the departed—
and create the future… that we could not reach.
This image—overflowing with hope—
brought a fresh torrent of uncontrollable tears.
