Elysia chose to believe.
Because…
Even in the doomsday of the Previous Era, there were still those who carried hope for tomorrow.
Even as civilization teetered on the brink in darkness, light continued to be born from it.
Those were the humans—and that was the world—she loved.
It was from them that a miracle called the Herrscher of Human: Ego was born.
And so, if they could create a story that had never existed before from mere fragments...
Then—surely those who come after would do the same.
The game screen shifted.
At first, the world was void.
No light, no darkness; no beginning, no end.
Like deleted data. Like memories erased.
What remained here—was pure nothingness.
So then… what was this “residue”?
“……”
A baby-like murmur.
Someone opened their eyes for the first time, as if in a cradle.
A gentle voice drifted into their ears.
？？？: “Today… I’ll sing your favorite song, just once.”
Though marked as “???”, it was unmistakably Eden’s voice.
【Eden?】
【I’m happy to hear Eden again, but… knowing MiHoYo’s writers, I’m suddenly afraid of what comes next.】
【To be fair… same.】
The idea that playing through a story could evoke such subtle and complex feelings—somehow, in Honkai Impact 3rd, that felt entirely normal.
No one in the livestream chat questioned it at all.
As Eden’s voice rang out, a blurry light began to glow in the distance.
It was warm, gentle—somehow familiar and nostalgic.
“You… changed fate.” came the voice of Aponia next.
That light was good, for it split the chaos, lit up the darkness, and drove away the void.
“Don’t look so surprised.” Vill-V said with a laugh.
It was like they were calling out to someone. Like they were remembering someone.
As if telling their story. As if singing their name.
“Because we’ve always believed in you.” Kevin said, unwavering.
“……”
…Why?
The one who had just opened their eyes wondered.
At the end of this tale, she should have stood as the enemy of humanity—as the 13th Herrscher—and taken her leave, leaving the stage to those she loved most—
That was how it was supposed to be.
So why…
Why was she now the one standing in the spotlight, surrounded by everyone?
Why…
Why did these memories, which should have been long gone with time… still remain here?
“Because I’m here.”
That was Mei’s voice.
“Because I’ll remember.”
Twelve stars lit up in the darkness, one after another.
“Because your birth, your footprints, and every tiny moment in your life has been remembered—by those who love you.”
Brilliant, flawless light chased away the darkness that had shrouded Elysia.
Just like…
She had once illuminated them.
The scene was so beautiful.
Players watching it were all spellbound at once.
And then came the pause.
【Deep breaths. Deep breaths.】
【I can feel it. It’s coming. This is really it.】
【Explosive finale incoming?】
The twelve Flame-Chasers spoke in turn:
Eden: “Yes, because—we still remember.”
Aponia: “Our lives are intertwined. Our memories connected.”
Kevin: “As long as we are remembered, we will continue to exist.”
Vill-V: “Her silhouette is carved into our lives. Her name still echoes even now.”
Mobius: “Hmph. A strange name.”
Kalpas: “Too long. I can’t remember it.”
???
At Mobius and Kalpas, the entire sequence derailed.
Of course.
Even if the Finality erased the world, Mobius and Kalpas would still be floating around, mouths running.
The queen and king of stubborn in the Elysian Realm.
Pardofelis: “Hehehe, but it’s such a lovely name! Sounds like a VIP customer!”
Sakura: “Thank you. I won’t forget your kindness—or your name.”
Su: “We are bound by this name. Even if it was never acknowledged, that truth remains.”
Hua: “As long as we accept it ourselves, we are whole.”
Kosma: “That’s why I’ll fight with all I have, no matter the form—staking our names on it!”
Griseo: “Everyone… together…”
As each of the Flame-Chasers spoke, the starlight grew brighter and more dazzling.
And more notably…
The names shown weren’t specific. They were all labeled “???”
But no one felt confused.
Unknowingly, everyone had memorized each Flame-Chaser’s voice by heart.
And finally, to close it all—Mei.
Beginning with her. Ending with her.
Honkai Impact 3rd always had a strange sense of narrative symmetry.
“Herrscher of Origin… what a fitting name for you.”
“Origin of yesterday. Origin of tomorrow.”
Elysia’s beginning was the beginning. Her end was the beginning of hope.
“You really did create it, didn’t you? A paradise named after you—Elysia’s Elysian Realm… Look, it’s right here.”
Under the starlight, light pierced the darkness.
The screen slowly brightened.
Revealing an outside world—
Where countless pink petals fluttered in the air, their fragrance filling the breeze. A scene straight from a fairy tale.
What a beautiful paradise.
Everyone felt the same deep emotion rising in their hearts.
“A flawless Elysian Realm.”
“An era that belongs to humanity.”
If anything could serve as a crown for humanity…
Then only humans themselves could wear it.
“So come back… take one more look at this world born because of you.”
“This is the story you began—and the stage I’ve prepared for you.”
A world born for you. A story sustained by your presence.
The emotion spread through every player…
One line lingered at the edge of everyone’s lips—until Mei said it for them.
“Just like before… answer my call, once more…”
“…Elysia.”
【Elysia!】n
Bathed in starlight—
Summoned by Mei’s voice—
The view fully sharpened. The fairy-tale paradise came into clear focus.
“Ah, in the end… you found me after all.”
“For a reunion like this… hmm~ let’s greet each other properly, shall we?”
Within that Elysian Realm.
In a new form, more radiant and flawless than ever—
Elysia.
She looked like a daughter of the divine, yet like a fairy among humankind.
She made everyone instinctively want to say—
【For all the beauty in the world, we fight! And Elysia is the beauty of this world!!】
“Hi, did you miss me?”
【Of course!! So much!!】
【Like the very first time we met! (pink font)】n
The livestream chat exploded at an astonishing rate.
Until—the game screen suddenly shifted.
To the familiar Flame-Chaser Archives screen.
Players: ?
Don’t do this!! Writers!!
Do they want players to grab their pitchforks—
Thirteen broken Crystal Card Faces fused into one.
All light converged. All brilliance converged. All beauty converged—
Herrscher of Human: Ego returned!
And in the most thrilling way imaginable.
Countless players’ eyes flew wide open—and then, fists clenched with pure excitement.
It was too good! Too good!!
MiHoYo! You nailed it again!
【Well done, writers! Well done!!!】
What? You say they were just about to storm HQ a minute ago?
No, absolutely not. That was a hallucination.
They’ve already disassociated from their past selves.
【Sweet, sweet, sweet! Nothing’s sweeter than Honkai Impact 3rd!】
【That scene... I’m so moved, the tears just burst out.】
【Explosive finale? I admit it. I was floored in the best way.】
Hmm?
Explosive finale?
Finale?
It’s only just begun.
