“...To be honest, I’m not entirely confident in what comes next.”
“Even though I’ve always believed that beautiful girls can do anything, changing Herrschers... might still be too far-fetched.”
If her earlier monologue had been a romanticized way of describing her upcoming actions, then this conversation with Mei...
...was a much more straightforward explanation of what she intended to do.
[Return to the origin with the power of humanity, and hope to turn all Herrschers into Herrschers of Human: Ego.]
Just as the players had speculated moments ago.
But… just as the narrative had shown all along—
Elysia really wasn’t sure she could pull it off. That’s also why, later on, seeing Mei had made her so incredibly happy.
After all, with a Herrscher like Mei around, it meant Elysia had succeeded.
The seeds of beauty had indeed taken root, sprouted, and bloomed.
“Maybe I’ll succeed, and from now on, all Herrschers will become Herrschers of Human: Ego like me.”
“Maybe I’ll do even better—the next moment, the Honkai will disappear from this world entirely.”
“But maybe... nothing will happen at all.”
A classic Honkai Impact 3rd line flashed past.
Elysia, as always, understood the assignment—buffing herself in advance, so she could do the impossible.
Cough cough...
“……”
“But even so, I still want to try. Those who’ve fought this far—everyone I love… they deserve a better ending.”
From Elysia’s uncertain tone, Mei also sensed another implication—
If even a Herrscher like Elysia could only guess, then how much could humanity truly understand about the Honkai?
Honkai, Herrschers, Finality...
In the end, they were all just words created by MOTH—just human descriptions of the current state of things.
But descriptions were, after all, guesses—not the truth of the phenomenon itself.
The only thing they could be certain of now was—
What Elysia said: “The so-called will of God is just imagination.”
“There’s no God ruling over the Herrschers. At least for me, the ‘will’ those worshipers speak of has never manifested.”
“What I’ve felt… is only a vast chaos, like a cocoon silently awaiting rebirth…”
“It seems to be telling us—that everything we’ve gone through so far, wasn’t a judgment, or a trial… but just an embrace.”
These few lines were brimming with overwhelming implications.
They instantly triggered a flood of associations.
If Elysia claimed that there was no God ruling the Herrschers, then what about that Honkai God Mei had seen before?
Right—wasn’t Mei’s initial purpose in entering Elysian Realm to uncover the truth behind it?
Only, the twists and turns of Elysian Realm’s story had made them nearly forget that original goal.
Back then, they had even wondered why that Honkai God was so weak.
It got dragged into a group chat by Mei and couldn’t do a thing about it.
Now that the topic resurfaced, with more information in hand, their speculation only deepened.
Some possible conclusions were even more outlandish:
For example...
Maybe Elysia’s actions gave the Honkai a sense of humanity, turning it into the Will of Honkai.
Or—maybe the current Honkai God was the Herrscher of Finality from the Previous Era.
Or even—maybe the Honkai God was Elysia herself, after returning to the Honkai.
But actually...
The real important point was being deliberately obscured by the scriptwriter with all that seemingly explosive information.
The Cocoon and the Embrace.
When players realized it later, the scriptwriter could always go:
“Oh, I did say it—you just didn’t notice.”
Hokuto adjusted his mask, silently roasting internally—what a sly trick.
...
Back to the story.
After hearing Elysia’s words, Mei had many thoughts, but as the avatar of absolute rationality, she didn’t ruin the moment with cold logic.
Instead, she expressed regret that she couldn’t personally witness Elysia’s blooming.
That detail gave a glimpse into Mei’s true character—though that’s for another time.
“Elysia, thank you for telling me all this… I’m sorry I can’t witness your blooming myself.”
Elysia comforted her.
“Don’t worry about it. Your health condition hasn’t been a secret for a while now.”
“Having a terminally ill ordinary person participate in the thirteenth Herrscher suppression mission would be a bit too absurd, don’t you think?”
She paused, gazing up at the star-filled sky.
So dazzling, so beautiful…
But now—it was time to say goodbye.
Forever.
“Trust… the world needs it more than ever. People need something they can believe in, a narrative they can hold on to.”
“So let the first Herrscher—Herrscher of Origin—become a beautiful fairytale.”
A fairytale?
Elysia was romanticizing what was about to happen to her...
But the more romantically she spoke, the harder it hit emotionally.
Mei wanted to say something, but in the end, she didn’t speak.
Instead, Elysia smiled brightly: “Don’t be so serious.”
“I’m the heroine of this story. Isn’t it only natural that I would go save the world I love?”
“……”
She smiled as she spoke of her love for this world.
Even if… she was about to leave it forever.
Even then, the last thing she worried about wasn’t herself.
“So, will you promise me something, Mei?”
“Even if the Stigma Plan is destined to succeed… don’t give up on the Flame-Chaser Project, okay?”
“Mm.”
Mei answered without hesitation: “I promise.”
“Whether it’s the Stigma Plan, which upends everything and redefines the world, or the Flame-Chaser Project, which adapts to fate and subtly steers it…”
“Their true power is the same. Both will, after us, forge a future that’s unlike anything before.”
“Yes.” Elysia smiled warmly. “Just like humanity itself, right?”
【Flame-Chaser Project? Is that the one Hua was running?】
【But I thought that project was already…】
At this point, most players still assumed she was referring to Hua’s project.
But in truth, the Flame-Chaser Project Mei and Elysia were talking about was a different one altogether.
Just like how Mei had forced Mobius to revise the Stigma Plan fifteen times...
The real Flame-Chaser Project had long since evolved.
By the end of the Previous Era, only two plans remained:
One that ended with the Stigma Plan.
One that began with the Stigma Plan.
The former was the “worst” case, the latter the “best.”
As for which one would succeed in the end?
Though it sounded a little like leaving things to fate, it truly depended on the will of those in the next era.
Mei couldn’t decide it. Elysia, after giving humanity the gift of possibility, couldn’t decide it either.
All they could do—
Was leave behind their footprints.
Would those become beacons lighting the path for someone else?
“……”
“……”
They would. One day, they certainly would.
Elysia chose to believe.
