This part of the story—
Hokuto didn’t insert a new CG like before.
Instead, he preserved the montage-style sequence from the original plot.
After all…
Some things are best left restrained. That was probably the reasoning.
But back on track.
Aside from the players who wanted the Herrscher of Corruption to share their pain…
There were also some rather unique reactions:
【Damn it, I thought losing two in one go was already the limit—now they hit us with a triple slash?! What the heck.】
【A triple slash? Is this some Elysian Realm-tier hell joke?】
【I’ve completely lost count of how many of these hell jokes have happened in Elysian Realm… I’m going numb—scratch that, scriptwriter! Get over here! I need to land a few hits!!】
【Pardofelis! Kevin! Su! Gone! All gone!】
【The only thing that can soothe me now is watching the Herrscher of Corruption suffer. Come on, let’s feel the pain together!】
In the story—
The Herrscher of Corruption really was in visible pain.
Clutching her chest with one hand, kneeling on one knee, gasping heavily.
That blow…
Had clearly inflicted severe damage.
She was shaken—both physically and mentally.
“...Kevin…”
The Herrscher of Corruption gritted out his name with intense hatred.
Yet her expression—ironically—reignited the players’ spirits.
Yes, that’s it! That’s the face they wanted to see!
So smug just a moment ago—now you’ve tasted what’s coming to you!
Could you really withstand the combined might of three Flame-Chasers?
Unlike the players, Hua remained calm, quietly observing the Herrscher’s state.
“…Kevin… he actually pulled it off?”
She could sense it—the Herrscher of Corruption’s power was weakening. Something within her had vanished.
Kevin, Su—they didn’t just strike a blow. Through their self-sacrifice, they had weakened the source of her power.
“You… you all…”
The Herrscher of Corruption could no longer keep up the Elysia impression—her tone turned savage.
“One after another… must you all do this?!”
“Is treasuring life… really that hard for you all?!”
Hua answered placidly, “Perhaps that depends… on whether it’s necessary.”
“So, Hua. Have you made up your mind? Are you going to be like them—despite not even knowing why?”
The Herrscher pressed on with her pointless questions.
She should know better—what is Hua’s engraving?
“Only by understanding the meaning of life can one bear its weight.”
“I’m not one of those people,” Hua said. “But most of the world isn’t either.”
“And if they could shoulder that burden with no clear reason… then I see no need to make myself an exception.”
At that—
The Herrscher let out a bitter laugh. “Hahaha… very well, Hua. Then I’ve decided too.”
“I will now show you my full power—but I won’t try to kill you anymore.”
She broke her promise again—just because she was frustrated and wanted to see Hua break.
Perhaps that was her nature all along.
All that talk of love and protecting others? Just sweetened poison to justify her own malice.
“Live… I’ll make sure you live… forever.”
“And once you’ve lived through endless time, I’ll make you admit—how utterly…”
“…fool·ish·they·were!”
【???】
【The only fool I see here is you, Herrscher of Corruption.】
【Blah blah blah, all bark and no point.】
【Trying to break hearts after breaking bodies? Hua, crush her already!!】
As if responding to the players’ frustration—
The game shifted into battle mode.
And with emotions running high, players eagerly launched into combat as Hua.
But then—
Why couldn’t they do any damage?!
After that epic team attack, the Herrscher’s health didn’t budge?!
And as if reading their minds—
The Herrscher mocked them.
“What’s wrong, Hua? Your comrades sacrificed themselves… for this chance.”
“Why… can’t you seize it?”
The players’ blood pressure soared.
Unprecedented rage. Unprecedented anxiety.
Why won’t she take damage?! Why?!
They were truly on the verge of a full emotional meltdown.
Thankfully, Hua remained composed—and gave them reassurance.
(The time has come… Now.)
(Eighth Divine Key—Fenghuang Down. Lend me your strength, one last time.)
A crimson Vermilion Bird emblem glowed across Hua’s body.
Her power surged massively.
And at last—the players could finally reduce the Herrscher’s HP.
Even if only slightly.
The damage still wasn’t substantial, and the Herrscher kept taunting.
“See, Hua? Sacrifice doesn’t seem to change anything.”
“Isn’t it better to just live? That’s how you get a real chance.”
“Maybe in a few thousand, ten thousand years—I’ll let you win on purpose. Let you have your so-called ‘revenge.’”
At last—
Hua responded.
Or rather—she had been waiting for this moment. All that remained was the final preparation.
“If all you want is for me to admit your ‘rightness,’ then don’t waste your breath.”
She continued to fight while buying time.
The “old relic” was never as obedient as she seemed.
“There’s never been a matter of right or wrong between us—and from the start, neither of us could ever convince the other.”
“Though we were both weak, our paths were completely different.”
“Weak… together?” The Herrscher narrowed her eyes. “Hua, don’t sell yourself short. Making it this far—you’re already remarkable.”
She sounded like she was praising Hua, but clearly dodged the shared “weak” label.
She didn’t see herself as weak.
But Hua remained calm.
“That’s exactly why we’ll never understand each other. You can’t grasp this feeling.”
“When humans are weak, they choose to walk with others. But you—your weakness made you seek strength alone.”
A familiar echo—reminiscent of Fu Hua’s old verbal sparring with the Herrscher of Sentience.
Is every Herrscher destined for one of these speeches.jpg
Ahem. No joke—
This only reaffirmed it: no matter how much time passed, no matter how much she endured—
Hua was still Hua. She had never changed.
“So what?” the Herrscher asked. “Are you trying to compare… which survival path is correct?”
No comparison was needed.
Hua already had her answer.
“There’s no need to compare. The two are fundamentally different.”
“What you’ve chosen is called ‘survival.’ What humanity has chosen… is called ‘civilization.’”
With those words—
Everyone knew something big was coming.
They focused, unblinking.
“If that is their choice… then—”
“My choice will be the same.”
In her hand, Fenghuang Down materialized.
“Fenghuang Down… help me one last time. Then I will know what I must do.”
This was it.
Hua—
Offered all that she was.
Staked all of her fifty thousand years—
“First power output—release!”
Her memories ignited.
A being made of memory—
Now began to dissipate.
All of her past faded away with it.
And yet, she had never been more clear—
She knew what she must do, what she would do—
Even if only for an instant. One moment!
“Let me… break free of constraint once more!”
“Hua, you—!”
Under the Herrscher of Corruption’s stunned gaze—
Hua’s body burst into searing flame.
And at last—through the power of Fenghuang Down—
She became a massive sword descending from the heavens, like a meteor from the sky, crashing toward the Herrscher with apocalyptic might.
—!!!
Can you withstand this strike, Herrscher of Corruption?
