In the blink of an eye, three more days passed.
During these three days, Gotham remained the same as always — crimes occurred every single day, at all hours.
After all, Batman only appeared at night. During the day, Gotham’s public security depended on the Gotham City Police Department, which was notoriously incompetent. Expecting them to maintain Gotham’s law and order was simply asking too much.
For example, not long ago, there was a bank robbery. The third-largest bank in Gotham was hit, and a total of five hundred million dollars was stolen. By the time the police arrived, the robbers had already fled in their getaway vehicle. In the end, all they could do was issue a wanted notice — utterly useless as always.
Of course, the official statement claimed that the police had arrived promptly, but the bank robbers were heavily armed, causing many police casualties. The GCPD also insisted they had achieved something — that several robbers were killed on the spot.
Yes… that was the official version, a face-saving statement put out by the police department. In reality, those robbers died because the robbery team turned on each other. Right after pulling off the heist, they began an all-out betrayal spree: A killed B, B was killed by C, and D killed C — a real-life game of Mafia.
In the end, only one robber escaped. According to the police investigation, the others were all repeat offenders — small-time crooks who’d only ever done petty jobs, at most getting involved in gang skirmishes. In Gotham, there were thousands of such people, but they had neither the courage nor the skill to rob a bank.
The fact that they not only attempted it but succeeded clearly meant they were being used — tools for the real mastermind behind the scenes. The mysterious person who made off with the money was obviously the true culprit.
The police classified it as a case of a high-IQ criminal manipulating a bunch of brainless thugs — a type of crime that was hardly rare in Gotham. After all, this was a city teeming with notorious villains like Scarecrow, Riddler, and Mr. Freeze — each one a heavyweight. Compared to them, this bank heist wasn’t even noteworthy.
More important than this “minor” event were two other matters:
First — the speech given by the “Knight of Light,” Naruto, at the press conference a few days ago had caused an uproar, making him the hottest topic in the city. People were all discussing whether the “Dark Knight” would accept the “Knight of Light’s” invitation to join his justice team in fighting crime.
Second — the “Knight of Light” received support from the Uchiha Group before Batman did. The famous Gotham playboy and head of the Uchiha Group, the Uchiha family’s patriarch, Bruce Wayne Uchiha, said that he found the “Knight of Light” Naruto interesting, that he amused him, and so decided to support Naruto’s mayoral campaign to provide himself with more entertainment.
Undoubtedly, this attitude — that of a lofty elite treating things as a game — was bound to anger countless anti-rich critics. But in Gotham, this was exactly the kind of thing people expected from Bruce Wayne Uchiha. This Uchiha family head had always been an unrestrained and willful man — and he had the capital and ability to be so.
In Gotham, the Uchiha family was the uncrowned king, the acknowledged ruler of the city, the ultimate capitalist tycoon. Even criminals dared not provoke them. In America — a country dominated by oligarchic capitalism — great capital was everything.
Here, you could target government officials, ordinary business owners, even the military, or the president himself — but if you targeted one of the top capitalists, the response would escalate immediately to anti-terror operations.
Gotham might be a city of crime, but it didn’t want to become America’s first modern urban wasteland.
Furthermore, the Uchiha Manor was in a wealthy district with extremely strong security — not just GCPD, but numerous private security forces. Gotham’s criminals were ruthless and skilled, but they weren’t about to assault a fortress-level target.
Put simply — as long as Sasuke didn’t break America’s most basic “rules of the game” by pushing certain dangerous ideologies or attacking high-level political figures, he could do whatever he wanted in Gotham. Even if people disliked it, even if they thought he was mocking them — it didn’t matter. He was Bruce Wayne Uchiha — one of America’s true masters.
Because of his statement, Gotham’s top headlines were now dominated by Sasuke and Naruto. The media scrambled to report on it, overshadowing the story of the third-largest bank robbery entirely.
Naruto’s people were unhappy about this. They were angry, thinking that the Uchiha heir was just stirring up trouble for fun — classic rich-man mischief.
Several in Naruto’s camp advised him to ignore Sasuke and focus on his own path.
However, Naruto thought differently. With a bright, enthusiastic smile, he said:
“Even if that Bruce heir is only momentarily interested and treats our cause as entertainment, his support is still a huge boost to us. Why wouldn’t we accept it?”
“Sure, this might get us mocked, even humiliated. But compared to the cause we are fighting for, what does a little ridicule matter?”
“In fact, we should be happy, shouldn’t we? Even just showing his support brings tremendous help to our cause, moving us one big step forward on the path of justice. That alone is worth it.”
This was Naruto’s stance. He wasn’t just talking either — he followed U.S. political etiquette and decided to host a banquet, inviting Sasuke as a gesture of gratitude for his support.
The news quickly reached Sasuke, who also learned exactly what Naruto had said in private to his team.
That attitude left Sasuke momentarily dazed, before a faint smile appeared on his lips. He had Alfred accept the banquet invitation on his behalf — and even generously offered the Uchiha family’s hotel penthouse as the venue, free of charge, in further support of Naruto’s just cause.
Although Sasuke was still investigating the bank robbery, attending a banquet would not take much time.
Part of it was also a small act of making amends — Sasuke still remembered how, back in the ninja world, he had hurt Naruto deeply, even subjecting that endlessly persistent comrade to brutal emotional blows.
When he had been consumed by revenge, he hadn’t thought much of it. But now, having “been forced” to put hatred aside and live out a second life, those memories brought with them a trace of guilt… and a wry smile.
After all, in Sasuke’s current view, his past self had indeed been extreme. Letting go of certain things made it easier to see clearly.
Of course, talking about it now was meaningless. In this second life, even though he had met Naruto again, this Naruto was no longer the same as before. Back then, Naruto had cared about saving face — he would never have so openly disregarded appearances in pursuit of a great cause, as this prosecutor Naruto now did.
And so, the day of the banquet arrived.
At 7 p.m., Sasuke, dressed in a flamboyant suit and accompanied by two carefully prepared female companions arranged by Alfred, boarded his extended Lincoln limousine for the event.
In the car, Sasuke laughed and chatted with his two companions, embodying the full charm of a playboy. Compared to the original, this Sasuke was almost identical to his “Limited Tsukuyomi” version — apart from his clothes.
In other words — his cold, composed persona was Batman; his playboy persona was his Limited Tsukuyomi self.
And just like Batman, he was an orphan, had witnessed his parents’ deaths, endured great trauma and hatred, and carried a cause and a goal he was determined to uphold. The synchronization rate was practically maxed out.
Uchiha Kei really did design Sasuke’s background with solid reasoning, huh.jpg
Soon, Sasuke arrived at the banquet venue. Stepping out of the car with his two elegant socialite companions, he was immediately greeted by a frenzy of camera shutters from reporters behind the security line. Many shouted “Bruce!” and “Uchiha!” hoping to get him to answer questions.
Sasuke maintained his roguish, confident smile, even waving and smiling at the cameras, looking every bit like he enjoyed being the center of attention and the object of envy.
Yes… it didn’t even look like an act.
Still, Sasuke limited himself to that. Once the photos were taken, he placed a hand on each companion’s waist and strode down the luxurious red carpet toward the hotel, under the jealous eyes of countless onlookers.
Along the way, he encountered many notable Gotham figures, all eager to greet him. Some — both women and men — looked longingly at the two beauties by his side, clearly wishing they could take their place.
In this social circle, Bruce Wayne Uchiha’s status was simply too high. Many would do anything to get close to him — even offer up their wives, sisters, daughters… or themselves.
