MGSFV?! Chapter 342. A Grim Reunion Is Still a Reunion?
🕑 Added 2025-09-29 23:00:02 +0000 UTCBack to the main topic.
Seeing that Kevin didn’t know much about Vill-V’s plan, Su patiently explained it to him in detail.
As previously revealed, Vill-V’s contingency—the safest place in Elysian Realm—was a triple-layered riddle.
The first layer: the space frozen by Sakura’s Momentary Blade.
The second: the mental space of the outsider, Mei.
And the third: the Herrscher of Corruption’s own data space.
As the saying goes: “The most dangerous place is the safest.”
Vill-V entrusted Su with this threefold puzzle, using the phrase “safest place” ironically—to lure the corrupted Su into the most dangerous location of all.
To assist Kevin in delivering his ultimate, all-out strike.
“Was this really necessary?” Kevin responded after hearing Su’s explanation, neither affirming nor denying it.
“Mhm. You’ve been under Corruption for too long.”
“Though you’re still yourself, even burning all your remaining data wouldn’t be enough for that world-shattering strike. Therefore…”
“You must use all of me as a substitute… no—as an augmentation.”
As an augmentation…?
Was that what the players thought it was?
If a peaceful reunion wasn’t possible in the land of the living, then maybe… a reunion in the afterlife?
Please, don’t—
“What will happen to you and me after that?”
“We’ll both dissipate. Without a trace,” Su sighed softly.
Just as the players suspected.
Su was going to load both himself and Kevin into the same gun barrel.
This…
【We’re going to fire one final badass shot together?】
【As expected… the time has come. Brother Su, Big Boss Kevin—farewell.】
【At least this time, Su and Kevin die together. Not like outside… where they never even got to say goodbye.】
【Haha… dying together = happy ending! (mentally unstable)】
【So… it seems the cat girl might survive this round after all??】
Kevin: “……”
Kevin’s in-game model raised an eyebrow slightly, his expression tinged with sorrow.
He could face his own death calmly, but clearly, the death of a close friend was different.
Still, he only said this:
“I understand.”
“You’re not going to stop me?”
“If you weren’t my closest friend, I would. But since you believe this is the method we must use… of course I trust you.”
These two…
【At this point, everyone in Elysian Realm knows why Su and Kevin are best friends—because there aren’t many left in Elysian Realm.】
【??? Quit with the deadland jokes. That one’s colder than death.】
【Cold? That joke makes me want to throw hands.】
…
There was no need to overanalyze Su and Kevin’s friendship.
The players, too, had nothing to add. Just feeling it was enough.
With Kevin’s agreement, Su’s plan was in motion.
Now, they just had to wait—wait for Mobius to create an opening.
When that moment came, when the Herrscher of Corruption’s power dropped low enough for them to strike—
They would burn everything and unleash one final blow.
Until then, they could only wait for Mobius’s “result.”
As they waited, Su realized the landscape around them looked… strangely familiar.
“…Nagazora City?”
Sure enough, the players hadn’t misidentified it earlier—it really was Nagazora’s model.
“Mhm.”
“That makes sense. You… were the ‘master’ of this illusion, after all. Still… I didn’t expect that what you most wanted to see was…”
As Su had sensed, this city had clearly suffered the ravages of the Honkai.
Even in this unrestricted fantasy, the disaster that had changed their lives hadn’t been erased.
Hmm?
Once the players realized that this ruined city was born from Kevin’s mind, they were a bit confused.
Didn’t Kevin want a world without the Honkai?
Kevin answered that…
“I imagined a few possibilities—but since they’re impossible, there’s no point.”
Of course, he wanted a world without the Honkai. But he would never settle for “imagining” it.
Since that possibility could never be reality, it wasn’t worth considering.
He no longer dreamed—and could no longer be satisfied by illusions.
So that’s how it is…
It wasn’t that Kevin rejected romance—it was that reality had stripped him of the right to dream.
Then came a sudden flashback between Su and Kevin that confirmed everything.
……
The game cut to a memory—one from long, long ago.
Flashback sequence triggered (no, really).
It started with a vividly colored CG.
A much younger, more naïve-looking Kevin suddenly pulled ‘still-eyed-normal’ Su into a tight hug.
【Su’s eyes look so nice.】
A comment popped up in chat with admiration.
Hokuto nodded quietly upon seeing it and muttered to himself, “Nice, huh? You’ll get to see them again soon.”
“?”
Elysia, sitting beside him, suddenly felt a chill.
She subconsciously turned her head and glanced at Hokuto.
“What’s wrong?”
“You look… oddly happy?”
“Just proud to see everyone praising the CG art.”
“Mm…”
That… was fair enough.
To be honest, Su’s eyes in the CG were beautifully drawn.
Rumor had it they were modeled after Su’s real eyes?
Elysia was quite curious about what Griseo had done during that scene.
Then came Kevin’s voice, sounding totally different from his current stoic self.
“Hey… so your dream’s still the same?”
“To be a doctor—that’s what you still want?”
Su replied with resignation: “Again, Kevin? You’ve teased every one of my life goals since we were kids.”
He sounded irritated—but his tone made their friendship even more palpable.
“Hahaha… nah, I always said medicine suited you, didn’t I?”
Kevin quickly added, “It’s just… with your talent, isn’t that a little underwhelming?”
“But now that we’ve been apart a while, you’ve gotten even cheekier. Saving lives isn’t that simple, and besides…”
Su trailed off.
Young Kevin couldn’t stand being left hanging. He immediately pounced on the opening.
“What besides?”
“Forget it.”
“You’re no fun. I was gonna share my dream with you today, too. Come on, come on—”
Young Kevin’s energy.
Way too cheerful, right?
Watching this, the players started to feel a certain way…
Looking at how Kevin used to be, then back to how he is now—
That personality shift…
It’s unbelievable that they… actually understood?
Only the Honkai—and MiHoYo—could turn a man into a ghost.
