In my mind, I know what a griffin looks like, and the second one definitely is a griffin, but in my childish heart, a griffen with horns has a coolness factor of 1000, but, if people want a genuine Griffen then Melvin n Medina, Sean C Jackson, and Grimnir suggestion feathers instead of horns are a valid one and if done right will have at least a 500 to 7500 coolness rating depend on how cool they look say so from some guy

It's a griffin, so no horns, but I agree that something bright should go above the head. Perhaps a crown, a medallion, a small star, or even a miniature repeat of the starry arc from below, but in gold instead of red.

The "horns" should be feathers. I voted Hirns cause the negative space at the top in the one without made the head look a little weird.

Horns is cooler, BUT it gives a dragon impression not griffin. I think a griffin should definitely be hornless unless mythology is different in this world.
