Hey all! For some reason this file just will not download at hi-rex despite the studio uploading it as such, so this is gonna have to be enjoyed "at a distance". I'll fix that if I can at a later point!
Concept art for one of the directions we're considering going for a comic/manga/manhua! Our own vinch is trying a different direction, so look forward to some of his stuff soon!
And yes, this armor IS more fantasy than what's canon in the books, and that's deliberate. For one thing, fantasy typically plays better with readers and publishers in comics/manga, so making the aesthetics of Stormweaver more science-fantasy than hard mecha might result in better numbers. Also it's WAY easier to find artists comfortable with fantasy than sci-fi art, sadly...

I gotta say - none of those armors feel like they fit the series - the book talks of sleek lines and articulated metal plating. Those all look clunky. And the animal head helmet - no! Please no! All your descriptions of CAD helmets so far have been smooth, sleek futuristic type stuff, or even biker helmet like. That animal head - it doesn’t fit the aesthetic of anything in the story so far. Please forget trying to cater to a wider audience in the art because you will alienate your current audience if you go too far - which these proposed armor models do. FAR off the rails. Please don’t use those things for this story. They could work for something else just not this story.

#3 Fur is just light. I.E match the users specific colors and make the fur billowing light, coming from the shoulders. Make the eyes match too, or another color of the users? I've always loved neon colors in comics/manga. Makes the images pop.

I would also like to add that the "fur" doesn't really look like fur. If we're looking at it from a sci-fi aspect, like most people have said, then the "fur" would be metal. Can you imagine how terrifying that would be? It fits the "aggressive" Mauler styles well. If someone got passed Rightor's range (like a Brawler) and he headbutted the Brawler and if the Brawler was quick enough they'd find their selves in quite the predicament if those jagged pieces sliced through their reactive shielding.
