“Hello, Reidon,” Doctor Kamiya Hiroto, CEO of the Kamiya Corporation, greeted him evenly. “I have it on good authority that you wished to speak to me.” I’ve been thinking about these last two sentences. … After searching for his grandson since birth, dealing with his crappy son and daughter-in-law all while running a large corporation. Grandpa Hiroto doesn’t show any remorse, no watery eyes, no hitch in his voice; any of which might put Rei at ease and might help break the ice. I’m addicted to these advanced chapters like everyone here. I just need to riddle this out in my head.

Omg. I am in a love - hate relationship with these early chapters. They are sooo good - but it's like taking one bite of a delectable meal, only to find that it has been put away, and you must wait for the bite. I know that Mr. O'Connor isn't really trying to starve us- indeed he seeks to feed us these morsels. But my greedy A-typical, obsessive brain is singing Veruca Salt's tantrum song- I want it now! Really, I am so glad we get to see the story unfold. I look forward to every word.

I imagine that we are all as anxious as Rei for this meeting. I know how I think this meeting should go. I went through this in my 20s when I met my father for the first time. It’s all nervousness and excitement and questions. How do you start the conversation. This chapter brings back a lot of memories. I just hope Rei doesn’t feel the need to go fight simulations again. Great chapter. Can’t wait to see how it unfolds.

Favorite typo: “They took a bed in the path, then another”. Aria gonna be so mad at Rei bedding the second he gets outside Galens. 😅

Jasper’s on another job eh? Wonder if that’s just due to busy fixer schedule or setting up the details with the incoming trainers… or maybe Hiroto doesn’t want his student and sometimes practical corporate sense limiting his response.

I liked the build up to the meeting and how we learn more about his feelings regarding the meeting. I wonder why it was regrettable that Rei didn't hear the comment about the setting making him feel more comfortable. Was it because it would have made him feel better about the meeting since they were considering his feelings, or because not hearing it will lead him to say or do something he would rather not have said once he gets to know Dr. Kamiya better? I'll just have to wait and see.

Love these updates! While I generally love the build up for impactful events, this chapter felt almost needlessly drawn out and did the opposite for me. I found I was actually getting a little more bored the further it went on. it will probably flow better in a completed book but in a standalone chapter it definitely felt too much.

I knew where it was gonna end but I was still mad about it lol Been looking forward to this for a while. I imagine Rei may lay into him perhaps though I'm hoping we get some more info. Also why do I feel Jasper isn't here partially due to getting the trainers together and partially because Rei's sis causing all that drama?

I am a fan of this as well. Although I will admit, since I didnt re-read the previous chapters first, that it took me a good minute to figure out why Martin was in there. On first read I was like, so why does Firesong have 7 on their side for this? Typo? lol.
