This looks like it might be an interesting story but I don't understand the world building yet. If there are only 70 mages on the entire planet, why would they go to an academy? If they are that rare wouldn't it make more sense to have a master and apprentice structure for training new mages? And three out of the 70 mages on the planet are on this one expedition? I suppose it will make sense in the long run, but only having access to two chapters it just seems odd

So this is either the beginning of a hero story or our main character was named after a famous hero (Xerxes the Great from the first chapter intro).
