I had thought of that, as well that the extra joint must add a chunk of height to CAD's with that mod (unless the CAD can change the physiology of the user when called). Where Shido goes with it's form is definitely a head scratcher. Will we see Rei with externals in book 3? Because from what Lennon said in book 1, A-types are either physically different (like him and his chain swords) or... I guess weird evolutions, like externals. Yet in book 1 we've a Lancer with externals. So what makes Dent an A-type, as I feel Rei is the same 'kind' as her

Yeah I love it when I can pick up a series and obsess on it till I power threw it all as fast as financially and physically possibly. There's always a need for more though. Questions unanswered the possibility for a sequel series or in the case of Iron druid series the hope the last two books were just a bad dream lmao

OK so I don't know how I missed the epilog on here but apparently I did. So now I'm torn between the info on Rei's seeming psychotic sister and Viv's masochistic break threw

OK I am now officially torn between the cliff hanger of who Ray's sister wants to kill and what Viv did to herself? First is Ray's sister going to be one of those I don't like not being the only child evil big sisters or is she going to kill her dad? Which doesn't really make sense because she would have probably said them and included her mother. Or is she pissed off at her grandfather for letting it happen? Is she going to kill Ray because he just completely upstaged her as a first year? Like what in the actual ****? And what about Viv did she almost kill herself trying to go all out with Dent? Did she get her Witch Walker ability? *guessing the ability is going to be the catalyst for her SCT moniker* I don't know which answers I want more right now but I'm leaning towards Ray's sister at the moment. Probably because I just hit the part in book to where she found out he existed. GRRRRRR BRYCE I NEED ANSWER'S 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

What were your thoughts on the audiobook? I liked it but some of the errors were glowing like a CAD in a snow storm.

I just finished the Audible version of “Fire and Song”. It was good but not great. There was definitely a miscommunication or something there. Luke Daniels is a great narrator, but this product was not up to par. He didn’t “shit the bed”, but he did poop a little. Phalanx is now pronounced phaLONX. LM Ashton in now french, while Aria is now Scottish? Kay Sandry is now, Sandry Kay. Maybe I’m too demanding but it drove me to the point of distraction. I thoroughly enjoy the characters and the story line. I just wanted the audible version to be better. “The Iron Prince” was right on the money! I wanted the same performance. Maybe someone missed an editing session or something.

Honestly I expected there to be more content. The chapters are short enough as it is. He makes it look like 9 pages, but the formatting is scuffed. Double space, wide rule..... super deceptive. I have a hard time believing that in 2 weeks thats as much as he puts out.

Eventually they will have to do it with all of them. However none are likely to refuse. Only issue may be Aria's (and maybe Viv's) family, however given recent discussions, Carmen won't refuse and Viv does her own thing anyway.

The more I think on it the more I'm surprised Rei was able to just sign the contract like that for the whole team. If it was just him then sure, but now that all of them are involved I would think legally you'd need to have the signatures of every member of Firesong giving their consent to the terms. Before this I'd figured Jasper would show up in person to present and get their approval and signatures as a group, but it sounds like Rei just did all that for them and things take effect in a week. Again there is a hell of a lot the team needs to run down now.

Great chapter. Super excited for book 3! Something I’ve been wondering since last book, what the heck is Central thinking? They have to have access to people who understand psychology, yet they clearly aren’t using them. All their actions so far are doing is breeding resentment and distrust in what will obviously be their most important soldier. If it keeps going, at best he’ll start to rebel in small ways by disobeying orders when ever he thinks he can get away with it, and at worse he will flat out refuse to work with them. If they are losing the war, they better pull their heads out of their…. er… the sand, and quickly.

I believe Rei is aware of his situation and recognizes his strength isn't at a level to take on the ISCM. Whereby should he go AWOL they'll just take his CAD by force. Also he has be acutely aware there's a bigger picture, for which he has aligning pixels. Don't believe his character will be stared towards going "All evil ruler of the universe." But would be interesting to see the intersection decision should that point arise.

I find myself wondering why Rei would take the ICSM threat as he has. He has to recognize they have big plans for him, a user possessing indomitable will and unlimited potential. Maybe I’m just weird but I keep thinking there has to be a moment where he realizes he holds all the cards. They threaten his team/family he could basically turn that around and tell them to choose either the ultimate weapon or their destruction by taking his CAD. If they choose the former it would be with the knowledge that when he reaches his peak he will remember those who hurt his family and his school. The latter choice speaks for itself.

When ya get the time I reckon you should post a full character sheet ( with their rankings) , map of all the systems, list and rank all the schools. I'd reread the last chapter of 2 earlier today and noticed that it seemed to be ending with Viv blacking out. Curious just how badly she hurt herself. And Dent authorized it. I wonder if they even know about the user unique ability but I feel like they'd keep tabs on those around Rei and probably anyone who gets a user unique anyway. Well there should be consequences but I wonder what they'll be to dissuade them ever trying this again.

Honestly can't wait for rei to finally meet his grandfather and sister and see that they didn't abandon him, all on birthgivers. How grandfather tried finding him but couldn't until the broadcast. Plus why central is behaving like this. Not saying I fully agree but well "winter is comming" and if the next generation, especially rei and co are not strong enough to stand against it "game over man". Also, shido needs to develop a jet pack.
