No!!! I didn't realize we were so close to the end of this book. But I guess thinking about it, it makes sense. The tournament was the main event of this book, and with it being over, then it's a good time to wrap the book up. What's coming next definitely won't fit in the same book. But I got so caught up in the excitement about what's next that I completely forgot that small detail, haha.

I loved the last few chapters and there is nothing I could say that could improve it except maybe one small thing. I was kinda expecting Rei to just say “well if you want us winning intersystems then, sir Rama please inform Kamiya I accept their offer.”. That would have been pretty much in character for Rei and also a very cool line. I’m sure he’ll accept it pretty soon, but what better moment than here.

OK, first, many thanks Bryce ! Second, I read swords plural. Did we miss Viv’s weapon evolution from sword and dagger? Is that a surprise in the last two chapters? Her fight with Vademe had her making the mistake of going for her dagger and getting FDA'D, and we never got confirmation on an update, just that she didn't get an Ability yet...so many pieces so few chapters left! Thanks again for the sneak peek!

I think it was a draw with no winner. If they had both been declared champions then they should have both gotten crowns at the final ceremony. But Rei got no crowns and Aria's only crown was from being squad leader of Team Battle Champions.

That must be what Viv asked Dent. Every time Rei almost dies he gets some crazy upgrade and/ or user ability, so can you almost kill me after a hard day of training so I can catch up? The mind writes in her glass, can't hurt, us at least. Let's see what happens. Dent says "I'll see what I can do"

Looks like Viv has caught on to the fact that Rei advances most after getting his butt kicked so she is taking that approach to improve.

I had that thought after I wrote the comment but I was having too much fun imagining Grant trying to apologize for cutting her in half to go back and make a correction. It didn’t really feel like grant but when I read axe, my mind went there. I can’t wait to read the whole epilogue.

It’s S0 projections she’s trying to brute force evolution and skill assignment. It’s probably the most Viv thing she has done in the book. It requires Dent’s authority, because the Cadets are locked out of fighting an opponent with that much of a Gap in abilities.

Since it was an axe, does that mean that Grant just cut his girlfriend in half. Is he a magician now? He's going to have to put his relationship back together after this.

Due to the nature of her injury, loss of mobility via leg relocation, I'm thinking its training to encourage external evolution. Imagine an A ranked Dent repeatedly asking for an opponent to cut off her legs so she could practice hovering and encouraging more externals. Trains her pain tolerance, tenacity, and device at the same time. This is the training that Viv asks for at the shuttle launch a few chapters ago. Consider also the 'grey axe' no vysetrium coloring. I'm thinking thats a field projected weapon, one that would need extreme strength to be able to cleave through armor since it's not made of vysterium. The kind of strength even a speed spec'd knight class might have.

Nah… I’m pretty sure this scene is Firesong chucking Viv’s unevolved self out and she’s sent to the front lines to die alone to Archon attacks. -Viv’s internal voice 🤪

I'm not sure exactly what you were looking for regarding feedback on those three chapters. I would love to give some advice but I'm seriously underqualified to offer any technical advice to you. If I wanted to offer anything regarding the storyline, well, I don't really lol. I love the magic that you bring to your books and I'm just here for the ride. keep up the good stuff. And now to slightly invalidate everything I've said; please bring back his family drama, I reaaaaallllyy wanna know how that progresses.

I really think we gonna see a Viv user unique ability before the end of this book!

I'm curious what the question was exactly. Specifically on the direction we're heading into and the conditions set? Because it was one of the scenarios I was hoping for though the way you're having it done makes way more sense to me lol I suppose you could question going this direction seemingly just for Rei but there may be a few different benefits for them beyond that.

Doubt they meet at this point. Honestly I think I would’ve preferred that chapter to be the final one. Think it would be a great lead in to the next book.

I hope Rei meets his sister in this book, in one of the last two remaining chapters. Otherwise there would seem to be no reason she was mentioned earlier. That will be fun. Still pulling for Catcher having a crush on her :D
