Everything about today has been off. Well, off might be an understatement. It's not often one is spanked by their coworker in the middle of the office. You don't even want to know what human resources has in store for you. What you do want to know is: what on Earth is going on? You choose to leave the tiny plastic chair and HR behind you as you search for answers.
Your immediate thought is your boss, Michelle. You know that she has an office on the second floor and decide to head there first. Unfortunately, the elevator is out of order so you must take the stairs. Not that you mind using them for such a short distance, but something deep within you struggles with returning to the stairwell. When you open the door, a cool burst of air blows past you as if it had been trapped for some time. The once sparsely decorated, out of style stairwell is far different than you remember. Everything from the stairs themselves to the pipes running down to the basement look new. The walls, once exposed and painted white concrete brick, are now smooth and painted a soft pink. A quick look down reveals the basement door beneath the stairs you stand on. Nothing looks out of the ordinary.
When you reach the second floor, you find that the state of affairs is much the same as it is on the first floor. Your fellow workers are all diapered and dressed in ridiculous mockeries of workplace attire. One woman, a particularly happy looking individual, wears only a diaper and a bib. The bib is big enough to cover her breasts and is designed to look like the top half of a buttoned blouse. It's only after you see her enter Michelle's office that you realize that the half-naked woman is none other than Michelle. You quickly follow after her, fearful that another supervisor might spot you and do what Alice did not.
Michelle's office is far different than you remember. Where once there was a desk, a couple chairs, and a few cabinets; there is now a playpen, two high chairs, and a changing table. Michelle stands in front of a more appropriately dressed man with her arms up. The man, someone you vaguely recognize as Michelle's assistant, picks Michelle up and places her in one of the high chairs. Michelle looks ecstatic. She slaps her hands on the tray and bounces up and down in the seat.
"Num num time!" says Michelle in a sing-song voice. "Num nums!"
"That's right," says her assistant. "More numnums for silly baby Michelle."
"Um...Lane," then says Michelle, tugging on the assistant's sleeve. "There's a friend!"
The assistant, Lane, turns to you. He looks you up and down, then raises an eyebrow. "I remember you. You're normally on the first floor. Why aren't you down there? Does Alice know you're without a diaper? And...dressed like that."
You point out that he's one to talk given his own 'normal' looking attire.
Lane lowers the waistband of his pants to reveal a crinkly pair of diapers underneath. "Unlike you and Michelle here, I have permission to dress with dignity."
You look from Lane to Michelle in the hopes of finding an answer, but Michelle is too busy picking her nose to notice you.
"Unless you want to talk about cartoons or numnums, I wouldn't bother with Michelle. She's got a one track mind...well, zero track depending on when you try to talk to her," says Lane.
You ask what's going on. Lane ignores you momentarily, too busy prepping Michelle's numnums to care. When you ask again, Lane huffs. "Listen, I would just bask in your adulthood right now if I were you. Very few of us are allowed even a scrap of it. See, once I'm done feeding Michelle here, I get to go upstairs and drool on myself for the rest of my shift. The new boss has this place completely under her little finger. If she wanted me to poop myself here and now I'd do it without a second thought. Only question is: would she leave me enough sense to feel shame once I was finished? You'll be wondering the same thing if she sees you like that."
You look down at yourself. Your clothing is both plain and sensible. Far and away the most adult outfit you've seen all day outside of Alice's maid outfit and Lane's clothes.
"I'm going to warn you, I've already pressed the button under Michelle's high chair tray. One of the boss's goons will be here momentarily to deal with us. I say 'us' because even just telling you what I have will probably be reason enough for punishment." Lane sighed as he pushed a heaping spoonful of baby food into Michelle's mouth. "So...ya know...maybe run or something. The exits are sealed, but any fate is better than what she has in store."
The sound of approaching footsteps can be heard from outside Michelle's office. They're loud, heavy, and carry with them an ominous air that hangs over you as you realize what's in store for you should they find you. You'll need to act fast.
...
Make a run for it out the door.
Pretend you belong.
Hide.
