So, I have to admit, I haven't really put much work into developing Gwen. This Epilogue was my time to figure out how to write for her, and it's a little startling how gratifying some of her behavior is. I'm basically pouring all my personal flaws and negative impulses into her (everything I wish I had the courage to say or the things I would do if decency weren't a thing), and it's... it's weird.
This is only a glimpse of Gwen, and I'm not looking forward to showing you more of her. She is a terrible human being.
How did she get this way?

A man talks to a woman in a rude, condescending, patronising manner and, instead of getting angry or upset, she gives back as good as she got - rather more in fact. Usually at this point I'd be applauding her.

I still say that John Quincy Maui needs to get out of the blast zone. Gwen strikes me as the sort of person who thinks that single-target spells are inefficient. And that combination of smile, eyes, and addiction to power troubles me. Woman with the devil dog can stay where she is, though. It'll save time later.

Upon re-reading the epilogue, the thing that stood out most was that the upper class elite in the initial debate Very Obviously Did Not Care about the warnings from the former Apprentice who walked off about dangers and contamination to the public. And the very worst part? This may have all happened before. After all, 'Those old words... Do you even know what they mean?'

Oh I feel like I'm going to enjoy learning more about Gwen. She may become my favorite character, after Thistle, and Margot, and Orrig, of course. I'd love to see Lyra and her go at it, now that I think about it. The impression I'm getting is that they have a similar personality type, but with different moral values.

I am getting such a Maleficent's pet crow vibe from Gwen's familiar.
I think I"m going to call the little bird... Peepers. I am excited to see Peepers wreak havoc shortly x'D

I'm enjoying this so much. The elder lady and gent are just standing there feeling kinda awkward while the French Bull-Pug thing is loving it.
