Yes, I had to stop everything else to really listen to the story. I think those are my favorite. Very hard to pick because all the stories are fascinating!!! I love any episode involving nation-state actors! And I’ve listened to a few of those more than once. Stuxnet, of course. I saw the movie. Your podcast was better! Now all these old episodes are floating around in my brain and I think I need to re-listen to a few of them. Can’t remember the name or number, but the guy that found the Zero Day for maybe the Linksys home routers (?) and he spent over a year trying to get someone to fix it. Wow! I’ve got to find that one! As for extra content, the episode with your Dad was great!!! Love all of it, Jack! I listen to lots of podcasts, but there’s only 1 that I drop everything for as soon as that alert pops up! This post is old, but there’s not that many posts here, so I’ll respond to it anyways. I have yet to listen to all of the episodes, but I believe I have listened to about half of them by now. One of my favorites so far is “Zain”, the episode of the young boy who manipulates people online to pay him money by exposing them when they are at their most vulnerable. It’s crazy to hear that a boy not any older than myself would be able to do such a thing, never mind actually pulling through with it. It’s horrible, but also so fascinating. Anyways, that’s one I would recommend:)

I have got to say that I have listened to a few more than once and plan on it again. I am a 50 year old info sec student and it seems to me this should be part of a class. I have listened from beginning to end but I jumped around some to. I first heard a reference to Hackers the movie so I looked it up and watched it. It was interesting and Angelina Jolie! but seeing the old modems that coupled to phone handsets and seeing the now famous line about the ATM hack! then I found references to MR Robot that I had previously watched the first few episodes and lost interest but now had new life and meaning now that I understand more of the terminology. all thanks to your podcast and explanations of terms, devices and everything. Most of the Darknet Diaries episodes make me stop and listen carefully to what's you saying, even though, Carna Botnet is my favourite. I've re-listened to every episode at least once, some twice. I love the physical penetration test stories, and the episodes involving state actors. (Also, I came to your show, and hacking related topics in general, in a bizarre way. I was SUPER into the movie Hackers, and into warez level aol stuff, when I was a kid. Then I got into graphic design, and later stand-up comedy, and didn't pursue anything hacking related. (I wasn't that interested in coding) Then about 6 months ago I watched a show on Netflix called "Money Heist". It's about a billion dollar (physical) bank robbery. Once I finished it, I was looking for podcasts related to big bank heists/robberies. I found the episode about the billion dollar bank heist. That renewed my interested in hacking. Then I listened to all of the back episodes, and now eagerly await new ones. Since then, I got SUPER into hacking related podcasts/books (I've since started listening to, and finished, Malicious Life, Hacking Humans, Breach, and a few others. Your's is BY FAR my favorite.) I'm still not into coding, but I'm super fascinated with all things hacking. Me and my girlfriend are evening planning to go to Defcon in the future. I'm about to listen to the Sandworm audio book as I work. I also now have a new stand-up joke about rewatching Hackers. (Which I did after listening) Thank you for everything you do! I'm a big fan!

I know it's an old question, but I especially enjoyed the last episode about the fella in Maryland and his tunnels cause it's like one county over from me and I never heard anything about it til your episode came out. Also, I find the social engineering episodes especially interesting. Like when you interview people who walk us through step by step how they infiltrate an organizations security resources. Its actually inspiring me to start seriously thinking about getting involved in the field. I'm looking into conferences and/or educational opportunities where I can dip my toe in.

But I really have great memories of the Beirut Bankjob and some of the smaller ones, mostly about the social engineering. Those are probably the ones I can identify the most with ... the technical ones are also great, but are more 'abstract' and further away. But also Black Duck Eggs, Stuxnet, Jeremy from Marketing were very enjoyable episodes. It's just hard to pick, they are all very great! ^^

English is not my first language, so when I listen to podcasts I usually can't do anything on the side (like work), so I mostly listen on my commute. My top episodes are: - TalkTalk: because of just how *wild* it is. I remember I started listening to it on the way to the bus stop, and I literally stopped on my tracks with my mouth open listening to the justifications of the CEO. - Eijah: because I remember when the DRM code was posted everywhere by anyone, without explanation, the internet was flooded with it somehow (I'm just seeing it even has a Know Your Meme post, hahaha) - Jackpot: because I feel like it's a different kind of thing, a machine exploit, done out in the open and not a "basement dwelling neckbeard" persona hacking away at a keyboard that most people associate with that sort of thing - Ill Tills / The Carder: had my CC info stolen two years ago and it gave me some insight into how it can be done and circulated to the wrong people (the person who used my info tried to buy horse-riding equipment with it...)

He liked it so much that I redownloaded all of the episodes to listen to with him. Aparrently it is a brand new, absolutely unique state in which all you can do in your brain is to sing "lalalala the molodies of your stories" From time to time I have headaches and I wake up holding my singlair zx 81 afraid that the dean will inspect it and realized I used it to save games onte cassette tapes. Other times I wake up sweating and I think that my country is being invaded in a cybernetic way by the the elite, the best of the best hacers of the world.... cri cri.... and they are deplyoing an exploit on the day of the final match of the most important soccer tournament in America. The only time this thing is not like a nightmare, is when I am dreaming in a casino in punta del este, and the devices have a bug and i....... end up singing with kylie minougue!! i should be solucky lucky lucky...

Started listening at #`1 a week ago after a friend recommended your podcast, and I just finished the Carna botnet today, and I just had to become a patreon. Thus, so far I have not listened twice. For stopping...the Carna botnet one. You kinda said to stop and go look at the map on the website, so I did, and I was so fascinated by the patterns on the map, that almost forgot to go on with the episode. The MtGox one was also one that I paid close attention to, since I has a small amount (luckily) of bitcoin on MtGox when they went down.

I'm a mechanic, and was listening to it when I was putting an engine back together. I was trying to focus on timing it up, but when he started saying "that's unfortunate" I was laughing too hard to get it right. I had to stop until the episode was over. I had to stop and show my coworkers the carna botnet map as well, after hearing it.

Honestly did make me pause in my work (graphic design and print production) to rewind and listen to certain points and sections again. I think the overall subject of these particular episodes just had me enthralled. Beirut Bank Job had me absolutely amazed that people would trust a random stranger simply because it seemed like they were too nice to ask for identification of some sort. Bank personnel who were overly trusting was a shocker. AsusGate was very interesting as i think people need to be better educated on how vital security in this digital age is. The more we can teach people to understand the security concepts and make them tangible the better off we will be at protecting ourselves and others. And Carna Botnet was just something i had no clue about and fascinated me to no end, i would love to see episodes on how this information has been used since it was compiled. How has this idea evolved? Also the information can be viewed visually which really communicates to me much better than just code and jargon so that's also something to look into in regards to accessable stories. Showing people an image with the story goes a long way. Anyways, hope that helps!
