This was horrific and terribly sad. I agree that he didn't look much affected by the crime or the sentence, but one can't forget he was diagnosed with some of the worst mental illnesses... Maybe if he had been properly followed and assisted, things wouldn't have come to this point... Enjoy your trip, Mike, and take care of yourself and your lovely (I presume) wife. Love ya!

I really hate it when judges start getting personal with stuff. Is he evil? IDK. Did he do something incredibly, incredibly evil? Absolutely. But it feels kinda out of place or inappropriate, maybe, when judges start making statements about the "moral quality" of accused (or, in this case, the convicted). The attorneys can say stuff like that. That's fine. But it's weird coming from the bench. Maybe I'm off base here, but I always get uncomfortable when judges do it. (Especially in this case, with the mental illness diagnosis already well established.)

YAY ! Life without parole...as it should be. Wish we could hear more of that kind of sentence. I've been watching a lot of UK crime shows lately and for similar horrific crimes: 10 years, reduced to 8, out in 5--only to kill again...go figure.

I hate it when judges say, “I would point out that you said your mental health is fine.” What part of insanity don’t they understand? Insane people literally NEVER think they’re insane. Would he have done this if he was under supervision and appropriately medicated? I don’t think so. This is why judges should be appointed on merit & not elected. Otherwise you get thickos like this guy.

Love the video. Happened not far from me. FYI a Coney Island Restaurant is a diner. We serve everything from breakfast to dinners. Burgers, fish, omelets, and of course, coney dogs (which depending on where you are from are either hot dogs with chile on them or hot dogs with a dry meaty sauce on them.
