Thank you, Barbara and Mojava, for the enlightment. As I said in my original comment, I didn't know enough about buddhism. I read the article, and now I know... When you use religion to define who you - or your country - are, those who don't profess the same religion are immediatly viewed as ennemies. I too stop believing in religion in my teens (which is a very long time ago).

If they keep their beliefs to themselves and don't harm anyone or animals with their beliefs, then what they believe is a personal matter. It's just when their beliefs cause harm of any kind to others that I have a problem. I even follow a couple of pastors and like what they have to say. But faith leaders like them are scarce.

Yep, I have lots of Mormon kin, of the mainstream church and not the outlier cult types. That could be why I noticed how often these stories involve Mormons. Maybe I worded it wrong. I do not think Mike is going after Mormons by intent. It is just fascinating to me that the sort of people we associate with being good and moral, the devoutly religious, are the ones who commit these very twisted deeds. It is remarkable, again, how often the churchgoing “good Christian” man or woman, of all denominations, are involved in murdering spouse or child, or both.

Well, Mormons are Christians, but with some unique tenets compared to “regular” Christians. Ditto Catholics, they are usually called out separately from the pack. Their unique features do make those two denominations somewhat more identifiable to the average Joe than the differences between a Baptist and a Methodist, for example.

If you know about the Mormon faith, you know that certain segments of that population operate in a manner that leans heavily towards cult-ish and severely oppressive of human nature. It’s not Mike choosing to go after Mormons, it’s that those individuals’ beliefs are significant to the mindset of those who committed the crimes - the kids in OK who murdered their parents & siblings, Vallow/Daybell, etc. There have been several stories where other faiths have been noted where the faith or the church is part of the story. This one, though, is LDS, which is an offshoot but not actually Mormon. Notice that his influence ran through the church, therefore, significant to the story.

I think it’s interesting to note that anytime someone IS a Mormon it’s brought up publicly but when they are Baptist’s or Presbyterian or Lutheran it’s just not “as interesting” I’m a firm believer that there are extremes in everything. This is just something I’ve noticed 🤷🏼‍♀️

Curious if you select Mormons for these whacko crimes, or if Mormons just seem to invest in the belief they are a god already to propel them into bizarre crimes? Seems like quite a few of your stories involve devoted Christian church goers and preachers, with Mormon affiliation coming out on top. The association of “good Christians” who murder spouses because divorce is bad has always baffled me. This one was a really good and really weird story! Thanks!

I have a suggestion for you you covered cases I've suggested before which was my cousin Reagan tokes anyways my sister lives in a small town and her neighbors were murdered last year it was a quadruple murder it was crazy not sure what it was over the cops thinks that maybe over drugs I'm not so sure it happened in a small town in Ohio called West Jefferson very small town everybody knows everybody and then happen in broad daylight if you research it there's ring video of it there's some camera video of it online of the suspect running out of the house he killed one victim in the yard and the rest in the apartment once again in broad daylight the guy that did it got caught a month later but he had just been released from prison from doing like 10 years and it wasn't his first time in prison and he shouldn't have been released check into it I'm not sure about the names of the victims or the suspect but the town is West Jefferson in Ohio it's a crazy case one of the victims was a young mother was that in the wrong place at the wrong time four people lost their lives and there hadn't been a murder in West Jefferson in over 15 years in the last one shot to town that's another one you can look up her name is Paige she was murdered in broad daylight right in the middle of town in West Jefferson just look up West Jefferson Ohio Mike crazy thing is going down any small towns we love you Mike from Columbus Ohio
