My non-expert opinion is that it depends - on the specific details of each case and on the individual children (their motivations, upbringings, milieus, trauma, mental health issues, etc.). It's difficult to make a blanket statement when it comes to children. What blows me away though, is that statistics show that rapists and child molesters are highly likely to re-offend, yet they are so often released after just a short time.

This was a very sad time for my granddaughter as the lady that was so cruelly murdered was her dinner lady. To say that Spalding was in shock would be an understatement! Thank you for covering that story Mike. I love ya too ❤️ xx

Man that was rough. The way they both stated so matter of fact what happened, and not an ounce of remorse… geeezzzz. Raising my only child (after her father decided being a husband and a dad wasn’t his thing just after she turned 1 (fertility treatment baby too!)) That’ll teach me marrying a 22 year old when i was 27 🤣🤣🤣 But i do laugh now he’s 45 with a 1 and 3 year old hehe….. karma….. Times were tough when we hit the teenage years, but, ya know; i’m glad her and her (then) very controlling girlfriend didn’t stab me in my sleep!! She’s just turned 19 and we couldn’t be closer! She’s grown into a stunning, kind young lady, who looks after her old mamma while my 2nd hubby works away for 2 weeks at a time. Cooks every night, cleans and helps me. And she has a divine. boyfriend who loves me and is so kind and respectful! 🙏🏻 Hallelujah! Poor Liz & Katie 😢 May they rest peacefully 🕊🕊🕊 That was a lovely ending Mike, i love ya too! Thanks for the comment, Rhonda. I looked it up in order to answer you. In my country (Portugal, not the UK. Lol), between 12 and 16 you can't be tried as an adult, and, if the judge agrees that a crime was commited, there are a variety of punishment measures, from the simple admonishment to the internment in an educational center. But my understanding is that minors of 16 and above are sent to adult prisons (I'm not completely sure of this, because that wasn't specifically mentioned in any of the sites I looked - serious, governmental sites). Take care.

Not sure how things work in the UK, but in the US in most states, if a minor is tried as an adult, they are still imprisoned either in a juvenile prison until they turn 18.

captial punishment is not ok. Some ppl need to be studyied so this can be stopped. We need to keep these ppl on watch. Learn something. Then we can figure out how someone can mess up their life before they can vote. This is what I would like to see done. Mentally ill? Probally. Ward him, and just keep asking him questions until they die. BSU 4 ever.

That blue becomes you so perfectly! It goes really nice with your skin tone and the colour of your hair! As to these two children... I don't know. I truly hope they can outgrow their anger and malice. I'd like to know if they are imprisoned with general population - I believe they are, since they were tried as adults. I foresee lots of abuse for both of them in prison - not the best way to reform...

The part at the end reminded me of that guy Eric Smith who was recently released. He murdered a 4 year old at 13. Hard to see if he is reformed or not, but I don't think he's been back in the news yet. Only time will tell. 🤷

They were both at a very transformative age: they know right from wrong; but still need to be taught that every action has consequences. (Raising kids is hard! Im just aiming for my kids to not want to kill me or anyone.) BTW the blue Henley was a good choice.

Those kids were not “normal” to begin with, before murdering. No way will 17 or more years locked up in a restricted environment with other criminals perform miracles to change them into functional adults in “normal” society. This coming from one who usually sees the best in people. Prison cannot instill emotions and morals into people devoid of those things. I don’t think so, anyhow. Geez, I had similar teenage issues (no violence or suicidal ideation) with my mum at 14-17 but it never entered my mind that killing her would be a way to solve my problems. Have also experienced two sets of grandkids, including some of them living with me, and can plainly see the difference between teen angst, stupid as Mike calls it, and deviant attitudes.
