Hmmm… if that’s the case then yeah that’s awkward af. At the same time though, her husband was in love with another woman and ended up killing her. I think it’s easy for him to launder blame onto his wife, at the end of the day I have a hard time imagining that his wife made him do it, especially considering that she was never charged or even investigated into. I think the cops would have a strong incentive to blame the wife in order to protect the reputation of the local military man. It’s a better look to have a “soldier that’s the victim of a controlling witch” than an unhinged murderer on the loose among their ranks.

We do hear a lot about dreadful family behaviors being "handed down", and I'm so grateful you overcame your fears & self doubt to become the nurturing, responsible mother you are. <3 When my boy was coming up, I once, caught & took to heart, these words (used to describe a good parent) and have hung onto them ever since: PROVIDER, PROTECTOR, LEADER, TEACHER. For me, as a (once, very much, struggling divorced) parent, those words mean the world. Hope your "dad" is out of your and your family's life. From the moment he laid hands on you he never deserved you.

I was molested by a family member (my dad) as a child. While I *never* had any sexual-type feelings around children, it made me scared that somehow this would creep down the family line and I'd be a sicko to my would-be children. Now married and 3 kids later (2 girls, 1 boy) and I had nothing to worry about. While we definitely CAN and DO get over things that happen to us in childhood - it definitely leaves it's mark on you and echoes throughout your life. While there's nothing wrong with me and I'm not a bad person - I know I'd be a different person if it never happened.

As a woman, it's hard for me to wrap my head around the concept that a woman could ever "sexually molest" a child (that fat, animal abusing marine was also dumb as a rock). I know it happens (& suspect, it usually involves a male); however, as for me, I'd rather take a beating than spend 2 minutes around anyone else's kid and can't even fathom anyone viewing them as "sexual" beings. When I was a little girl, 2 different adults tried to do things to me (that's just fucking disgusting & yes, I reckon, I do sound rather "triggered" here). I used to live about 20 mins away from Joshua Tree in Twentynine Palms with my Marine ex hubby. Lots of bodies found out in the dessert. It would seem to be a perfect dumping ground. Another great story Mike!
