It's apalling the number of women that die by the hands of their partner or ex-partner! Even if the numbers have diminished a lot, this is a problem in my country too. You're so right: this guy is a piece of shite, but the system let down these women big time! The dismissal/complicity of the authorities has to stop! I am a bit leery of mentioning this after the last time, but my father who was descended from the Picts (sp?), Dutch but for the most part was Cherokee had a terrible temper so my mother, before they were married, told him, "you may hit me once but you have to sleep sometime and I can promise you won't wake up." He never ever laid a hand on her in anger. Never. In fact I never saw my parents disagree, much less fight. The most they ever said in front of us kids was, "we'll discuss this later." That's it.
