One of the things that baffles me about the American justice system is trying children as adults. On its face, it makes zero sense. You're either legally a child, or legally an adult. Much of the world exists in various shades of gray, but this is as binary as it gets. However, it's cases like this that make it apparent that such a clear distinction isn't always helpful. Obviously, this kid is a monster. And although I am glad that he didn't get life without parole since he is, technically, a child (and it's unlawful to do otherwise), it's hard to imagine that he could be rehabilitated, even if that's what the prison system in this country happened to be geared toward (which, of course, it isn't). Sad stuff. Also, how's that guy who was walking his good boy living these days, you think? That would haunt me for a bit.

Some people should just not be allowed to plead not guilty. There is just no way you can defend this crime. Dude was not in psychosis and it’s shameful that they even tried to use that. I’m sure they did because they had no other reason to explain this. It’s just a waste of everyone’s time to even put this guy on trial. I know that’s how the courts are and it’ll never change but like nah. not everyone deserves a fair trial, not everyone has a purpose in life, and not everyone deserves a life starting with this monster. It’s harsh and probably controversial to say all that but you can’t convince me that someone who rapes and brutally murders innocent and good people deserves any sort of dignity of respect

What kind of 14 year old would do such a thing?! It's truly shocking. More shocking than Joel Guy. What had to happen to this boy to turn him into such a awful person? At 14, I was sneaking cigarettes behind the school. I've never even heard of anyone who would do such a thing at that age. He was so casual about it too. And no one saw her or found her in the bathroom?! Saw blood? Nothing!? It's crazy.
