This is down the road from where I live in Elizabethtown, Kentucky (okay 30-40 minute drive). I really remember when Chrystal went missing because one of the guys in the volunteer ground and aerial search and rescue organization I am in was a friend of the family, really rattled and wanted to find her. The sheriff didn’t want to make a formal request for our services so we had a training event with coordinated air and ground search (I was in the aircraft) that if we happened to see anything we would naturally report it. We didn’t see anything. The lakes and ponds in the area were so swollen from the rain earlier that week that it was impossible. That and forest is so dense and leafed out at that time of year that it was trying to spot a needle in a haystack. You’d see “Find Chrystal” signs on the parkway for over a year from when she went missing. Now you don’t see much. Friends I have in Bardstown don’t have a whole lot of faith in the integrity of local law enforcement.

It’s so surreal hearing Mike mention my hometown, Elizabethtown. Bardstown is only 20 minutes away and my dad works there. On a side note, my great aunt (by marriage) is Brooks Houck’s aunt. My dad asked her once if she thinks he’s guilty, and she said “hell yeah he’s guilty!”
