I don't know about you, but the fact that you're not reading a page 3 lower right blurb in your sunday paper about sitting US senator Amy Klobuchar having been killed by the deliberate activation of some kind of high heat mobile-bed-bug-van-service after voluntarily stepping into it - in what could charitably be described as a lesser David Sedaris story - is plenty reason to believe that there is much we can accomplish if we just apply a sufficently bipartisan attitude about all this.

I consider myself to be a commie, and yes I live in the US. The bathroom warriors and people obsessed with pronouns are certainly annoying, but exterminationist? Really? I don't doubt that many people in this country are bigoted against trans people, and a tiny number may even be homicidal, but I haven't seen evidence that the average Republican is even slightly invested in killing trans people en masse. I know lots of Republican voters and they certainly do not want that. I mean, being suspicious of trans athletes and insisting on "M/F" on legal documents may be bigoted policies, but I don't see them as explicitly like homicidal? Surely the idea that most Republicans want to round up trans people and throw em in the gas chamber is a bit exaggerated. That is not my experience of actual existing Republicans 🤷‍♂️ Not trying to defend bigotry, just doesn't seem useful to me from an organizing perspective to demonize entire swathes of the population due to their association with one or the other bourgeois party.

Honest question. How did you get here? Like what are your politics about? Do you live in America? To try and answer you… 1. The entire right wing for years. They’ve recently federally declared that there are only two genders and they’re assigned at birth (or conception, unclear). For years they’ve been obsessed with people using their preferred bathrooms and unfair advantages in high school sports. 2. Because they’re bad people. Ignorant, incurious, self-important, entitled, hateful, in short bigoted 3. That’s a really good question. I guess the undying love of the cattle-people that make up most of this country? The illusion of effectiveness and competency? Maybe we’re just in the first line of the “first they came” poem and they’re testing the waters, seeing who they can cull without anyone caring? Trans people tend to be pretty left wing for what I assume are obvious reasons.

I worked in manufacturing for years (and only recently quit because I moved out of the States) for a company that’s a pretty big name in what they produced (I’ll spare details because only five people would get it.) Everything that we made got stamped with Made in America. That’s a big selling point, american labor and american made. Where did we get supplies? Where did we get the components for what we assembled? Canada, Mexico, and China. From what I understand a LOT of ‘american made’ companies are like that. If those tariffs happen it’s going to kneecap a bunch of companies in the States. They were fucked during covid when the supply chain wasn’t moving. If those tariffs go through those places are going to cease to be profitable. They only paid us minimum wage and had mandatory overtime so who gives a fuck honestly, but it shows me how completely uninformed the people cheering that on are.

If she’s ever even had an interaction with one bed buggy she’d know better than to evoke that name. Cars are the closest thing we have to a gundam suit. Anyone can just climb in and become an inhuman metal behemoth that can liquefy any living thing and blast through walls. Any civilized society would require some kind of proof of necessity to own anything bigger than a smart car, and would make public transportation so good that personally owning a car is completely unnecessary in all other cases.
