Camping on a Tiny Island in Sub-Zero Weather
🕑 Added 2023-02-15 20:39:49 +0000 UTCAt the very end of 2022, the south west of England experienced some extremely heavy rainfall. This resulted in a large section of the Somerset Levels flooding, turning what is ordinarily farmland, into a massive reservoir.
Making the most of this change in the landscape, I loaded up a kayak with some camping equipment and headed off across the water. My aim: find a small island upon which I could spend the night...

It’s a fun experience isn’t it?! I dunno Zoltan. For now I’m very happy going on these shorter varied outings. But I may dust off the wheel at some point in the future. We’ll see :)

Hi Ed, Very much enjoyed the video. Why don't you get yourself some sealskinz socks to keep your feet dry? I use them for cycling in wet weather. Cheers Mark

Hey Ed! Nice video! I have a lot of good memories about canoeing on flooded areas near my hometown. I never forget them and you refreshed these. Thank you very much! When will we see you again on your big neon green wheeled monster? :)

Cheers Willie! This one was a bit of a monster to cut together, so it’s lovely to hear the work is appreciated :)

Thank you Sharon. Yeah, the levels is pretty unique for its flooding. The drone was the perfect tool to capture it. And the ice in the morning really was a bit of a bonus too!

Nice video, loved the sound of the kayak through the ice and all the drone shots of the flooded area. Thanks.

I really enjoyed that, Ed.
