As far as the questions people were asking about Richard Thompson, he has done a variety of things but mostly divided between an acoustic folkie style (performing live by himself with just his acoustic guitar, including songs like "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" played with an impressive hybrid pick + fingers technique), and electric guitar with a backing band / trio type format (when a drummer and bass player are present, he can go out on a limb with longer electric guitar solos while they keep the rhythm)
