Dotti... 'Soap'
🕑 Added 2025-01-29 18:00:11 +0000 UTCHere's another Dotti strip - this time I'm wearing long socks instead of stockings. I do like the darker legs - I think they add a bit of balance to the outfit and make the shoes pop. Let me know what you think...
Socks are on, but the gloves are off! This comic contains a rare sighting of my hands. I've been asked a few times why I always wear gloves. It's mainly because they're a classic clown/mime/cartoon tradition, (they make gestures clearer etc) but also, I have the most hideous hands! Seriously, they look like they belong to the Wicked Witch of the West. I've done a lot of gardening, crafting and drawing over the years, so my paws are always dry and gnarly and I rarely have manicured or painted nails.
I did consider keeping the gloves on for this strip, but I think washing hands with them on is probably too absurd, even for Dotti! So make the most of this brief glimpse of my mitts - the gloves will be firmly back on for my next post :)

Well, this particular strip is inspired by an Ernie Bushmiller comic - I think the 'chasing the soap' gag was also in an old Popeye cartoon. Apparently they had lots of problems with slippery soap in the 1940s :)
