Chapter 26: Clearing the Air

Rosy’s silhouette remained at the doorway, her eyes silently fixed on the two people on the bed. The only sounds were the faint whisper of breathing and the lingering, heady scent of sweat and sex that still hung heavy in the air.
Owen, still kneeling on the bed, his body naked and bearing the marks of their recent, torrid activities, stared back with wide eyes filled with shock and guilt. His lips parted slightly as if to form an apology, but the words caught in his throat, refusing to come out.
“Rosy, I…” he began, but before he could finish, the young woman before him stepped forward without a word. Then, suddenly, she threw herself into his arms, hugging him tightly.
“Owen…” Rosy’s voice was soft and gentle, her eyes closed as she rested her face on his shoulder. “I’m just glad you’re feeling better…”
The warmth of her embrace left Owen completely frozen. It was the polar opposite of what he had expected. He had imagined her furious, enraged, twisting his ear until it went numb. But instead, she showed only deep concern, holding him tightly.
Owen was too stunned to move… Perhaps he had underestimated her, or perhaps it was her 100-point affection score that made it impossible for her to be angry with him…
Owen’s thought was only partially correct. The full truth traced back to just a few moments earlier, while Rosy was searching for his patient room. The voice of Iris had echoed in her mind once more.

The words hung in the air like a blade. Talia’s hands froze mid-button. She looked up, shocked, her face draining of color as her eyes began to tremble, tears welling up.
“You… Don’t think this is over just like that. I will report you to the highest authority,” Rosy stated, her voice hardening with a finality Owen had never heard before.
“No!” Talia whispered, her voice frail and trembling. She collapsed onto the bed, completely drained of strength, tears now streaming down her cheeks. “I… I’m sorry. It was my fault for what I did to your boyfriend, but please… please don’t report me. Sob~”
Seeing Talia’s fragile and vulnerable state, Owen couldn’t help but feel a pang of pity. He knew she hadn't acted with malice, that she, too, had lost control. He sat up slowly and gently touched Rosy’s arm.
“Uh… Rosy…” His voice was soft and sincere. “I’m partly to blame here, too. You should know that. It wasn’t all Talia’s fault. She… she didn’t force me. It was something that happened… unintentionally…”
Hearing Owen defend Talia, Rosy’s expression shifted slightly. She pouted, her brows furrowing in displeasure. Though she said nothing, her eyes made it clear she didn’t like his words. However, after a moment of silent contemplation, she let out a soft sigh and gave a small nod, a silent agreement not to report the matter.
At that moment, Iris, who had been observing from within Rosy’s mind, chuckled softly, her tone laced with amusement and scorn.
“Don’t worry about Owen falling for this woman, Rosy~ It won’t be long before she becomes our complete slave. My children have already begun to incubate inside her body. And with my queenly authority, controlling her will be effortless.”
Iris’s words made Rosy’s eyes sparkle faintly. The displeasure from a moment ago vanished, replaced by her usual confidence and calm. She turned back to Talia, her expression shifting to a gentle smile so friendly it bewildered both Owen and Talia.
“Alright, nurse. I won’t report this…” Rosy said, her voice even but heavy with unspoken meaning.
Owen raised an eyebrow slightly, while Talia remained silent, watching Rosy with suspicion.
After Rosy announced she wouldn’t report her, the nurse’s expression slowly relaxed. The panic and trembling gave way to relief. She let out a long sigh, like someone who had narrowly escaped disaster, and used the back of her hand to wipe the tears from her eyes before looking up at Rosy with a grateful gaze.
“Thank you so much… I… I don’t know what to say,” Talia said softly, her face still flushed with guilt and shame.
“I just hope you won’t do this to anyone else. Except for my Owen, that is…” Rosy said, her voice firm and resolute. It wasn't sarcasm, nor was it rude, but it was absolutely final.
Then, Rosy gave a slight nod, inviting the other woman to sit in the chair beside the bed, breaking the tense atmosphere. The three of them sat in a small circle in the room, the scent of what had happened just moments before still lingering in the air.
The conversation started awkwardly but soon turned into open introductions and sharing of stories. Talia explained that she was an Awakened who didn't want to risk her life in dimensional gates, so she became a nurse. Since the gate had opened downtown, all the doctors and nurses had been incredibly busy. Besides Owen and Rosy’s case, many others had been lost inside and had almost no chance of returning.
“So it’s amazing that you both made it out alive It’s practically a miracle!” Talia said to them with admiration, then glanced at Owen, her face reddening. “Especially you, who… uh… came back with such an extraordinary… abnormality”
Owen knew exactly what Talia was referring to. Her gaze was fixed pointedly on his crotch. He could only manage a half-hearted smile. As the atmosphere calmed and became more casual, Talia stood up and offered a faint smile.
“Well… I should probably get back to my station. There’s still a lot of work waiting for me. Thanks again, Rosy~ for not turning me in.” She gave Rosy a slight bow before smiling at Owen and leaving the room. The door slowly closed, leaving the room in silence once more.
Rosy, sitting beside Owen’s bed, looked at him with a serious expression. Her lips were pressed tightly together before she let out a soft sigh. “Owen… there’s something I need to tell you…”
“Hmm? What is it, Rosy…?” Owen asked, raising an eyebrow in curiosity at her sudden seriousness.
“It’s about what happened to me. And about that dimensional gate…” Rosy’s voice softened, laced with a mix of complex emotions. “The truth is… we were all deceived…” She began to tell him everything Iris had revealed to her, from the beginning to the present.

“You mean we were just dancing on her chessboard from the very beginning?” Owen, who had listened intently to Rosy’s explanation, could only stare wide-eyed, unable to believe that the entire ordeal was the intricate and cunning plan of the Parasite Queen.
That meant if Owen didn’t have the Choice System to help him and hadn't used his Reality Warp power to make the Queen fall in love with him, they would have had no chance of survival.
Rosy nodded softly. “Yes… and now she’s living inside my body. Her name is ‘Iris.’ And she’s not just a voice in my head. She can…”
Before Rosy could finish, her body froze. Her eyes widened, her limbs tensed. Her gentle expression instantly transformed into one of supreme, arrogant pride. The once-sincere gaze became one of power, obsession, and cunning. Her lips curved into a seductive smile as she rose slowly from the chair, leaning over Owen, who was still lying on the bed, confused by the situation.
“Rosy…?” Owen called her name softly, his voice filled with uncertainty, his heart starting to pound for some unknown reason.
