Water Tutorial! - July 2025

In this tutorial I break down the 3 main components to painting water and give you some theoretical knowledge along with a full walkthrough of a reference! Try to follow along with me if you can, it'll help you understand the process much better and absorb/retain more easily :)
I've attached some of my favourite references below feel free to try them out! SOme are more challenging than others so just go at your own pace and work your way up!

I loved following along, I paused the video every couple minutes thus my version took a few hours, but I very much enjoyed this process. Thank you so much for all the prepping for this! I generally feel the urge to strive for realism in painting with smaller, textured details, but this felt like a liberating and satisfying study - to just zoom out and try to keep a coherent feel with loose strokes. Can't wait for more water tuts and have a great summer!
