Hair Tutorial!
🕑 Added 2025-02-20 22:00:07 +0000 UTCThe most comprehensive hair tut I've done so far, I really hope this helps! I tried to explain the concepts in a way that can be applied to all different types of hair that you may end up drawing. Hopefully by following along here you'll be able to apply these techniques effectively :)
Love you guys! Thanks for your trust and support!! Reference folder attached below as well, just some good images I found on pinterest for practice!
I always recommend watching and drawing along with me during the demos, pause the video and try it out in real time. it helps a lot with retention!

Amazing tutorial!! Question, how do you do with long curly hair? Is it the same as the short one??

I found the way you breakdown the planes very helpful. Working systematically from the back to the front.

Thank you this is really helpful! I'm not sure if you will see this, but I wonder why do you put your sketch on multiply and lower the opacity?

Great timing because I was having trouble with this in drawing a portrait

Fantastic tutorial! i found it very usefull for my drawings :) I have one question. I feel like the sketchy brush is a bit different on procreate and the texture is less clean than your example. Do you have any tips to improve that?

The tip that the highlight is going in the opposite direction has completely changed how I look at hair. Hair always intimidates me but this makes it so much more understandable

It would be interesting to see you draw your characters in a cell shaded style! That't typically the style that I tend to favor over rendering, however I still watch all the tutorials in the hopes to pick up things I can translate over to a different style. Would still be neat to see how you did a more anime/comic book style of colors and shading.

Saying the highlight goes into the "opposite direction" was really confusing for me but as i finally got it, it made a lot of sense. Great Tutorial! Cant wait for the book to arrive too.
