Ambushed in the Oval Office? w/ Richard Seymour
🕑 Added 2025-03-02 21:55:01 +0000 UTCIn the latest episode of Interregnum Richard comments on the the fallout from the calamitous meeting between Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky, and JD Vance. We discussed whether the Ukrainian president was the victim of a pre-meditated ambush at the White House, the extent of disjunctures and continuities between the second Trump presidency and prior administrations, and we also talked about how Europe and Britain are responding to the apparent breakup of the post-war international order.

Guessing this was recorded before the ReArm Europe announcements

one of these days you’ve really gotta get Tooze and Richard on the pod together

Thanks everyone

Not left-leaning is an understatement. Same goes for Tooze. Just listened to him babble on about how HB1 Visas threatening jobs is a left mind virus. Obviously uninformed, given he's never worked a day in tech....

I cannot recommend These Times highly enough. The six most recent podcasts have been absolutely brilliant on current affairs (starting with "Europe's Trump shock"). It's definitely not left-leaning but the two hosts (particularly Helen) are intelligent enough to work around their own biases and produce a balanced picture. The only catch is that it comes from UnHerd which is owned by the hedge fund owner of GB News and the Spectator - so skip the ads without guilt.

unpopular front from john ganz is also great!

Can you (or any of the listeners) please recommend some other podcasts, of whichever political persuasion, that provide cogent analysis of international relations such as the Ones & Tooze podcast Richard mentioned. Thanks 🙏
