Listeners' questions for Richard Seymour
🕑 Added 2024-12-12 10:56:50 +0000 UTCAs previously mentioned, I've been unwell so there won't be any regular PTO episodes for the rest of December but I did want to do something for PTO supporters so I will be recording a listeners' questions episode with Richard on the 18th. As usual, feel free to ask a question on the topic of your choosing - though you may like to ask something related to the overthrow of the Assad regime in Syria, the collapse of the French government, or the failed attempt to impose martial law in South Korea.
Please post your question below the line here or email politicstheoryother@gmail.com with 'Seymour questions' in the subject header.
Thanks as ever for your support!

What might the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO, Brian Thompson, and popular support for the accused Luigi Mangioni tell us about the class struggle and class consciousness in the United States? What parallels might be drawn to other periods and places where assassination was a common political tactic, sometimes symptomatic of a lack of political organisation?

Who are the biggest winners and losers of the fall of Assad, what exactly have they ‘won/lost’, and what does this say about the ostensibly dwindling American empire’s ability to still project power across the globe? Oh, and how you get better soon.

Couple of Qs: i) if he's aware of it I'd be interested to hear Richard speak to a trend within socialist writing - don't think it's a coherent school or anything but you see it read often in Jacobin - making economistic pleas for something called 'Normal Marxism' ii) if he's reading any good fiction lately Sorry to hear you're ill, hope you feel better soon.
