Embrace Of The Abyss— 4
🕑 Added 2024-03-30 11:54:45 +0000 UTCCurrently, Xia Feng was at the Qi Gathering Stage.
At least, considering his fleshy body he was.
Immortal Cultivation could only be followed in a strict path. The Realms were as follows— Qi Gathering, Qi Refining, Foundation Establishment, Golden Core and Nascent Soul.
For further Realms... There was no need to mention it. The possibility of cultivating to the Nascent Soul stage was practically non-existent in this world.
Xia Feng silently absorbed the slightly thicker Spiritual Qi in the surroundings into his body. In a world deprived of Qi, there weren't many spots with enough Qi for his use.
He'll have to find a Blessed Land sooner or later.
Places that accumulate large amounts of Spiritual Qi without ever getting exhausted were known as Blessed Lands.
...
An hour passed and while Xia Ling was still unconscious her phone buzzed. Xia Feng saw that it was from a boy in her class.
He looked at it curiously before cutting the call. He didn't do anything else and stopped cultivating.
There was no point in continuing since the surroundings Qi had depleted.
It would take a few months for it to replenish.
Xia Feng's mind wandered back to the call Xia Ling was receiving. He had to protect her purity, if she dared to mingle around with anyone else but him he would be furious.
The Nine Yin Body would vanish upon penetration.
Xia Feng wouldn't allow that. He had to keep a good eye on her.
The reason he even bothered coming here at the cost of his life was for her, how could he allow such a thing to happen?
Just as he was thinking about it Xia Ling's eyes snapped open and she blankly stared at the sky for a few minutes.
There was undisguised fear in her eyes moments later.
"Gege... What in the world is this...?"
"Nine Yin Refining Method. You were born with a special constitution and as such I personally created this for you." Xia Feng smiled and said.
The vast amount of data on the cultivation technique had left her astounded and somewhat fearful.
Apparently, if she had understood it right she had to refine ghosts and spirits to 'cultivate'.
She also didn't doubt its authenticity because after understanding the technique she could feel a special energy in the air.
She felt that if she absorbed this energy she might be able to replicate what Xia Feng did.
But if everything was true then ghosts existed...?
A chill went down her spine and she looked at her brother for support but he was looking behind her with a serious expression.
She heard him mutter, "Ghost..."
"Waaaaah!" She jumped up in surprise and didn't even look back before running behind Xia Feng. She peeked out from his back but saw nothing.
"Gege?"
"What? I was about to explain how to refine ghosts. Why'd you suddenly get scared?" Xia Feng teased her and the young girl blushed, her face flushing red.
"Shut up!" She separated from him but a few seconds later looked at him curiously. "How do you know all of this? This technique you've given me doesn't look cheap and saying that you made it makes me feel even more ridiculous."
"As I said. I'm different from the world just like you're different from the world."
Xia Ling pouted, wasn't this just avoiding her question?
"But gege why can't I absorb this weird energy in the air? What's it called by the way?"
"It's called Qi. To absorb it using the Nine Yin Refining Method you'll have to capture ghosts and use their bodies as a medium to gather Qi for yourself."
Xia Ling felt a chill go down her spine just imagining it.
"You could say that without ghosts or spirits, you can't actually cultivate but don't worry while it might seem like a handicap, with your physique this tailor-made cultivation technique will make sure you don't have enemies in the same realm."
"What Realms are there?" Being introduced to such a new world, Xia Ling was naturally curious.
"Qi Gathering, Qi Refining, Foundation Establishment, Golden Core and Nascent Soul."
"Wow... Gege what realm are you in?"
Xia Feng smiled at her question and patted her head, "I'm at the Early Stage of Qi Gathering. I've also just started cultivating. Cultivation takes time Ling'er. It's a long and arduous path."
Xia Ling somewhat understood why Xia Feng decided to drop out of school now.
Even if he couldn't really become immortal or whatnot at least he could become a top fighter!
Undefeatable even!
Money would flow endlessly, so there was really no need to continue with school.
She also wanted to quit school but she didn't have Xia Feng's courage.
Her shoulders drooped and Xia Feng chuckled.
They returned home but weren't questioned much. Xia Feng also behaved normally somewhat dispelling his parents' fear.
...
Xia Ling was sleeping soundly.
In her dreams, she was flying with Xia Feng in the sky overlooking all beings.
"Hehe~ me and gege... invincible..."
Just as she was about to use her mighty power to slap her school to oblivion her body shook.
"Whaaa...?" She rubbed her eyes and woke up. Xia Feng's smiling face popped up in her view and she woke up with a start.
"Get up it's time to cultivate."
"But I don't want to go to schoo- huh?" Xia Ling rubbed her eyes before stopping. She should have rubbed her ears, she was hearing something wrong.
She rubbed her ears before looking at Xia Feng with wide innocent eyes, "Say that again please."
"Get up it's time to cultivate."
"..."
"But gege I have school."
"No, you don't."
"I do!"
"No, you don't."
"..."
"I've already talked about it with our parents. Not only me but you also don't have to go to school anymore." Said Xia Feng.
"No more school...?" She muttered in a daze, "But what am I supposed to do now?"
"Cultivate."
Xia Ling deadpanned.
"Didn't you say I need ghosts to cultivate?"
Xia Feng nodded.
"It's 7 Am right?"
Xia Feng nodded.
"Look. Look at the sun, shining so brightly. Isn't it majestic?"
Xia Feng nodded.
"Aaaaargh! Stop! Where are you going to find ghosts this early in the morning!?" Xia Ling felt like pulling her hair out.
She just realised having no prolonged interaction with her brother she didn't know how annoying he could get.
After a minute she calmed down.
"Gege... Cultivating using ghosts... Is it necessary?" She wanted to ask this last night but hesitated.
She couldn't hold it anymore.
Xia Feng's smiling face disappeared and Xia Ling felt nervous.
"Why?" He asked.
"I don't know... It just feels uncomfortable."
Hearing that Xia Feng chuckled. "Get used to it. This isn't anything compared to what is to come. Get ready I'll be waiting at the front gate."
He left her room and Xia Ling silently stared at his departing back.
