“Run! Run!”
A sharp female voice kept urging, while the other soldiers kept their heads down and mouths shut, only pushing their legs to accelerate.
But just a few steps later, the women fell behind the group instead, and fear caused them to cry out shrilly.
“Slow down! Slow down!”
At this life-or-death moment, the woman's command was undoubtedly displeasing, but due to her status, many still gritted their teeth and slowed their pace, allowing the woman to catch up with the group once more…
The fear of death loomed over everyone's hearts, they gasped for breath, and their bodies trembled slightly.
And behind them, a woman dressed in ink-black combat uniform was smiling cruelly.
She wasn't in a hurry to chase, instead, she quietly lifted the person in front of her by the neck, slowly pulling out his insides amidst his disenchanted screams…
Lungs… Stomach… Liver…
That piercing scream didn't awaken the slightest sympathy in the woman. Instead, her face showed a strange flush, her body slightly trembling, as if gaining indescribable ecstasy…
“Ahh~”
She softly moaned.
But unfortunately, this pleasure quickly disappeared. As she pulled out the third organ, the soldier in front of her couldn't endure this pain any longer and fainted.
This made the woman somewhat bored.
“Useless trash…”
She casually tossed him aside.
Her cold gaze once again shifted toward the fleeing soldiers. She grinned cruelly and suddenly lowered her body.
“Boom!”
A ray of light suddenly flashed and shrank around her, instantly arriving in front of the retreating soldiers!
Her speed was so fast that it even left a blurred afterimage in her original spot!
By the time these soldiers regained their senses, the woman had already grabbed another of their comrades!
Seeing the struggling figure in front of her, a satisfied smile once again appeared on her face.
Under everyone's disenchanted gazes, she repeated her previous method, once again tearing out the man's insides!
The bloody scene caused the two women in the group to scream uncontrollably.
Even the woman herself, despite being of the same gender, couldn't help but frown at the piercing shrieks.
Turning her head away, her cold eyes briefly scanned the two women before arrogantly looking aside.
“Two points, trash.”
Just like rating a toy, she had no interest in these two women at all.1
But the people present didn't understand the meaning of the woman's score, they only trembled in fear watching her massacre their comrade.
Finally, someone couldn't endure anymore, shouted furiously, and charged forward wielding his spear in hand!
The woman smiled slightly, then suddenly raised her hand!
A black iron ball was instantly thrown into the man's body, and steel thorns burst forth!
In merely an instant, the man's body was pierced through flesh and bone by hundreds of steel spikes!
He became like a giant, spiked hedgehog, his bones shattered, his organs punctured into swiss cheese by the millions tiny spikes!
Yet human tenacity for life was strong; as long as one didn't die on the spot, the body will still struggle to keep moving.
“Ugh… Ah…”
But for the man on the ground, it was only prolonging his suffering…
He knelt, his ruined body convulsing uncontrollably.
In an instant, a deep sense of helplessness surged into the hearts of everyone.
It wasn't just that their comrade was killed in front of them without resistance, they couldn't even see the woman's attack clearly… Not to mention, the man was actually the strongest among them, a second-stage psionic!
If even he couldn't defeat this woman, what else could they do?
In that instant, their legs felt as if filled with lead, completely unable to move…
After carefully pulling the man's insides out and enjoying his screams for a bit, the woman dropped the unconscious body, then turned her gaze toward this group who had already lost all fighting spirit.
She felt a bit bored.
“Not running anymore?”
“…”
No one responded. Everyone only used silence to reply.
The woman sighed softly.
“Then it seems the game time is over.”
She said, then lifted her head again. Her cold eyes showed no change as they stared at all of them.
She didn't regard these soldiers as humans at all. The previous fight wasn't even a battle to her, it was merely a game to satisfy her twisted desires.
As the youngest Inquisitor of the Empire, this was her favorite game…
But now these people have stopped running… meaning deep inside, they have already accepted their death. This would surely reduce her enjoyment by half.
But as she glanced over them, she suddenly smiled again.
“Did they run?”
Hmm?
Some of the soldiers were a bit confused, but soon they noticed that the two women they were supposed to protect had unknowingly chosen to run away.
This caused the soldiers who had just been desperately defending them to silently curse.
Originally, as auxiliary troops, they didn't have to fight on the frontlines. It was those two women, driven by some unknown stimulus, who insisted they engage in battle inside the inner city.
Fighting was acceptable, after all, they weren't weak themselves. Most of them were first-stage Ascenders specifically assigned to protect the women. Within the inner city, they actually had the ability to fight.
But not long after stepping onto the battlefield, the women suddenly insisted on withdrawing… How could they possibly leave without orders?
Actually, according to the women's status, they could just send a report to the rear and safely retreat. Yet those two women refused to listen, insisting on leaving, even attempting to abandon the main group and flee alone.
This caused the soldiers to be filled with complaints.
But they had no choice, after all, they were deployed here specifically to protect the two women.
Yet even in fleeing, the women refused to follow their arrangements. They wouldn't take hidden side paths for safety, insisting only on the main road because it was clear and fast…
Didn't they know the main road would allow for a faster escape? Couldn't they think carefully why the enemy had left the main road open for them to retreat?
Then… they were attacked by this woman…
An entire squadron of over a hundred soldiers now had been reduced to just a dozen or so remaining.
The cliff-like gap in strength made them realize that no matter how hard they tried, it would be useless.
Despair surged into their hearts, making the hands that gripped their weapons seem weak especially.
But at this moment, one man still gritted his teeth and stepped forward!
“We can't give up yet…”
He growled, his voice trembling like a desperate beast.
Everyone's attention was drawn to him, but they only indifferently turned their heads.
They had already lost their fighting will.
"We can't even run anymore. Even if we can't win, we still have to try..."
The man tried to reignite his comrades' fighting spirit. But unfortunately, the others weren't fools either.
They suddenly knew that at this point, they had no choice but to fight desperately. But reality was just so… In the face of such an absolute power gap, they didn't even have the will to gamble their lives.
Everyone bore the expression of those awaiting death.
This made the man fall silent.
But after a while, he shouted recklessly anyway.
Even if everyone else had lost their will, he still didn't plan to give up!
He wanted to live… He must live!
Even if others had stopped resisting, he still wouldn't give up!
He said no more, charging at the woman like a wild bull in a final assault.
This determination clearly gained the woman's approval. She grinned cruelly and raised her hand.
“I'll make you into a human hedgehog!”
After saying that, she broadened her eyes, swung her hand down, and prepared to sever the man's arm first, to slowly torture him!
Everyone showed an indifferent expression, as if they could already foresee the result.
But…
“Puchi!”
Blood splattered!
Everyone's expressions were numb.
But… soon, someone discovered, the blood wasn't coming from the man's body…
It was coming from the Inquisitor?!
“Eh?!”
In an instant, everyone wore a shocked expression. Even the man himself was momentarily stunned.
But… it was only a blink of an eye, and he discovered that a falcon had already bitten onto the woman's arm!
That brief moment of delay had created a chance for his attack!
“Hmm?!”
The woman instantly leapt backward several steps, her expression twisting into darkness.
She didn't say anything, only silently crushing the falcon to death.
As for the man's spear… To someone of her caliber, such a weapon could no longer harm her.
She lifted her head.
And the crowd finally slowly regained their senses at this time.
The sound of rapid footsteps echoed in their ears, and in the blink of an eye, several black-and-white giant beasts burst forth from the darkness.
Leading them was a long-furred giant wolf radiating a unique silver glow.
It slowed its pace, stepping elegantly, its body like a noble hunter in the darkness…
Beside it, a baboon held the two escaping women in its hands.
Their faces were pale, their bodies trembling uncontrollably, and their clothes were still damp.
The sudden appearance of the beasts left everyone stunned.
Since when did the Kingdom have such a unit?
Yet just as everyone was shocked by the beasts' appearance, a slightly dizzy girl slowly raised her head from atop the lead wolf.
“Made it in time?”
She murmured, scanning the scene.
Upon seeing the wounded Inquisitor, she suddenly furrowed her brows, as if recognizing her, clicking her tongue in annoyance.
“Tsk…”
This action confused everyone, but the Inquisitor suddenly became excited at this moment…
“Ah… I finally found you…”
She whispered, her face suddenly flushed red…
