Summer at Uncle Clyde's (Part 1)
🕑 Added 2019-06-04 18:10:46 +0000 UTCSorry I know I said monday but this took me wayy longer than I thought. I wanted to keep adding parts to the story. Well this is by far my longest cap ever, so let me know what you guys think! Sorry if the text is too small I think you can download it or I'll post the story below. Enjoy!
It was a cold summer night, Mike Rodgers and CleAnthony Lewis were smoking weed in his house one last time before Mike’s parents got back from vacation. They didn’t smoke a ton, simply because they always didn’t wanna sneak around their parents. Both guys were 18, Mike was a well built varsity basketball player. He stood at 6’ 2” and was pretty jacked for his age, he was a solid point guard. CleAnthony was the typical try-to-be-ghetto black kid in the upscale suburban community. Both his parents were doctors so he tried as little as possible to act like a rich kid, even though he was. CleAnthony also played basketball which is how the two best friends met. It was the guy’s final months in high school, both guys were fairly popular.
“Damn dude I wish Carly would go to bed already, I hate having to respond every 2 seconds.” CleAnthony just shook his head. Mike had a decent looking girlfriend named Carly. It was a good relationship but nobody really expected it to last, the two were cute together but they never seemed perfect for one another. CleAnthony on the other hand had always had trouble with the ladies around the school, it was hard being one of the only black kids in a school with a bunch of racists. The Highlands, where they lived was smack in the middle between a big city and redneck country, CleAnthony and Mike lived towards the city but were exposed to their fair share of rednecks at school.
As Mike took another hit out of the bong he blew out the smoke and sighed, “Ugh I wish drug testing wasn’t a thing. I want to smoke even when I have a real job.” CleAnthony nodded in agreement. Mike wanted to go on to get an Engineering degree while CleAnthony wanted to follow his father’s footsteps and become a doctor. Both guys were exceptionally above average intellectually, and definitely had bright futures. “Did you see that hick douchebag Colt Berkman put a confederate flag on the back of his truck? Racist garbage.” CleAnthony vented as Mike tried to text a crafty reply back to Carly.
Right as CleAnthony was packing another bowl, the 2 friends heard the garage opening. Mike scrambled over to the window and to his horror saw his parent’s car pulling in the garage. They were home a day early. “We’re fucked.” Mike said angrily to Cleanthony. “Why did I let you talk me into smoking in the house?” CleAnthony quickly put his stuff into his backpack, “You’re fucked.” He smiled at Mike as he opened and walked out the back door.
“How many times do we have to tell you to stop smoking weed?!” Mike’s father was tearing into him. Mike sat with his face buried in his hands. He didn’t like to disappoint his father, he was a successful man who expected the same out of Mike. Mike expected the same out of himself. “Maybe we should send him to live with someone over the summer who won’t tolerate stuff like this.” His mother chimed in. “Carol, I don’t want our son living with that idiot.” Both referring to Mike’s uncle Clyde, who was Carol’s older brother. He was 65 and had never been married, he had lived in the countryside most of his life but bought a house in the suburbs to help care for Mike’s grandma. Clyde was a stereotypical crazy uncle, and Mike did not enjoy his presence, so living with him over the summer was absurd. “No freaking way.” Mike added to his dad’s comment. “Clyde is just… lonely, he could use some help around the house and your company, I’m afraid he’s going insane. Consider this your punishment for us catching you for the 45th time!” Carol yelled at her son. “Carol-” Mike’s father was cut off by his mother stomping her foot, “End of discussion!” She stormed out of the room.
Mike lugged his suitcase up the driveway to his uncle’s house. He looked at his parent’s car pulling away, he couldn’t believe they were doing this to him over weed. Mike slowly raised his hand and rang the doorbell. The door opened, Mike immediately smelt a strong stench of cigarettes. Standing in the doorway was an overweight balding man in a wifebeater drinking a cheap beer. It was 9 am. “Uh hey Uncle Clyde.” Mike outstretched his hand. Clyde burped and chucked his beer can. “Come in boy.” He muttered. Mike walked into possibly the dirtiest room he’d ever seen, piles and piles of trash everywhere. “Yer room is over there boy, I expect dinner to be ready at 6. Go get the chicken from the basement now to lettem thaw.” Clyde said taking a puff of a cigarette and smiling at Mike creepily. “Yer ma said you’ve been bad, well let me tell you boy that ain’t happenin round here. You got me?” Mike silently scoffed to himself at the fact that Clyde was already being a price. “Yes sir.” He muttered as he started down into the basement. Mike immediately started coughing, it smelt terrible, and it was almost like there was some kind of gas in the air. Mike quickly found the chicken in the extra fridge, and booked it back upstairs, When he reached the top of the stairs he uncovered his hand from his face, whatever was down there was nasty. He threw the chicken in the sink, Fox News played quietly in the background as Mike walked over the trash to get to his room. It was a windowless tiny room with a bed and desk, Mike plopped down and cried. It was going to be a long summer.
