Before I blow my cork, just went to Navy Federal Credit Union today. What a joke. I was depositing one small check into a business account. I was also transferring funds from a business account to another of my accounts with that same institution. Normally I have to give an access number. Today I gave the teller my ID card first. They normally just look at the card and make sure you resemble the picture on the card. Today, she took my ID card, reviewed it multiple times, then took it and began to look on the back and scan something that was on the back. You would have thought I was Al Capone with a bank robbery note (Well I guess a federal reserve note is a bank robbery note, it robs us of the true value as stated on the note and we end up with worth-less paper - but as AP says, "I digress".) When I asked if she needed my access number she said no, but she would need a 2nd ID. I could not believe this. I was so angry, I took my sweet time giving it to her and asked why was I being treated like a common criminal. She informed me the credit union had just implemented new regs that required additional ID on any transaction over $3,000. This was going from one of my accounts to another of my accounts. I guess if it were being transferred to someone else's account I would have to have been sent thru fingerprinting, voice ID, etc. etc. Oddly enough this same CU automatically transferred funds from one of my accounts to a CD without my permission a few weeks back and charged me interest as if it were a loan. I still have not gotten down to the bottom of that situation. Funny how all these rules are being made to keep us safe from fraud and theft while the biggest fraudesters and thieves are the ones making the rules - but "I digress".
