O, speaking of dehumidifiers, I have not done all the research but I think they make a great source for emergency water. The amount of water mine collects is about 70 pints a pop. It is a small portable unit I got some years ago after Hurricaine Florence. Probably for drinking boil and then maybe filter or put some type of bleach in it and then run through a filtering system. Otherwise for bathing, etc. maybe just a drop or two of bleach but it's amazing how much water is in the air we breathe.

Thanks AP for the alert. We have a propane whole house generator (Cummings is the brand). You can bet when there's a power failure we run around like track stars turning off EVERYTHING electrical except that which is absolutely necessary to sustain life. Depending on the temperature we may leave one HVAC unit on to maintain minimum comfort, we have a "go to" area of the house where we can survive comfortably with electricity until the power is restored. Rationale: Generators eat up a lot of gas so we treat the generator as just that, "emergency" backup. Helps us save on gas which ain't cheap!
