"WHY" you ask? This is taken from something I wrote to a friend of mine just a few days ago regarding the USA's love affair with war: -The American Government (the military industrial complex) loves war because it has always gained money and power from war. We have only fought probably one or two wars that were actually justified. -The U.S. Government has destabilized scores of nation states and set up it's own leadership in those nations- thus the moniker "The Great Satan". -The US is 246 years old and we have been actively at war/conflict for the equivalent of 577 years with these conflicts running concurrently. Presently we have 4 conflicts going on simultaneously with the longest having been for the past 21 years with no end in sight. I would suggest 5 ongoing conflicts since we have entered WW III. I added up the years myself based on this source doc: List of wars involving the United States - Wikipedia To my knowledge, the most prominent figure to ever warn the American people about the government's hunger for power and greed in exchange for innocent blood was Dwight D. Eisenhower in his reference to the "Military Industrial Complex" as he was leaving office. With this kind of past, present, and future history I have never understood how "we are the greatest nation that ever existed".
