Twisting it in the sunlight, it shimmered beautifully. Although it was just on the ground, the band felt warm in her palm. Kaitlin could smell the stench of fecal matter before registering the footsteps approaching from behind. Turning around, she saw what looked like a ragged homeless woman running up to her.
“That’s my ring!!” The woman yelled, her eyes looked crazed. On reflex, Kaitlin pinched her nose and walked backward. She balled her fist and held the ring away from her.
“Ewww get away from me! You smell horrible!” She said in disgust. Strangely, the woman’s facial expression softened. Her bloodshot eyes relaxed. She even stopped walking and then looked down at herself.
“I’m… free.” She said whispered, “I… I’m free!” She exclaimed cheerfully. “Keep it!” She yelled, turning away from Kaitlin, then turning into a full sprint. “I’M FREE!!” She screamed this time, shedding her garbage-smeared clothes until she was naked. Kaitlin looked on bewildered.
“The fricken drugs in this town…” She thought, shaking her head. After watching the woman turn a corner and disappear, Kaitlin turned around and continued walking to the store. Her attention yanked back to the ring in her hands.
“It’s such a cute ring. I should put it on the Facebook lost and found…” She thought, knowing that was the right thing to do. Yet, she felt her heartstrings pull in another direction. She didn’t want to give it up. Greedily, she felt a strong urge to put it on. It was like her finger craved it. Without giving it a second thought, she slipped it on.
“Woah…” she felt that same warmth from before seeping into her finger. It drained into her palm, then started running up her arm. She watched the feeling race into her shoulder, through her neck, then tentacle into her brain. New thoughts bloomed in place.
“Warm air smells gross.” She thought, she squirmed uncomfortably at that thought. It felt alien, yet she oddly identified with it. The scent of a summer's day was everyone’s favorite. But with each step, Kaitlin wanted the exact opposite. “I wanna fucking stink.” She muttered suddenly to a lady passing by. Kaitlin gasped then cupped her mouth.
“Excuse me!?” She said offended. The lady kept walking. Kaitlin stood in place.
“I didn’t mean that! I mean, I want to shit myself in front of you! Ooooh!” Kaitlin groaned, turning around. Her eyes lit up in shock. “What the fuck!? Why did I just say that?? I didn’t…” She thought, but the more she thought about it, the more it excited her. The idea of pushing hot mushy diarrhea out in front of that lady made her cheeks burn red with devious excitement. She bit her bottom lip as she walked into the grocery store.
“I should have done it…” Wisped into the background of her mind. She grimaced, then tried to flush the thoughts down through her brain stem. It allowed a moment of clarity as she walked through the aisles.
“Dish soap. I am out of dish soap, and I need to get some so I can do my dishes. That’s what I’m here for. Not to stink. I’m here so I can let everyone know that I want to smell like a toddler.” She thought, shaking her head to erase that last thought like an etch a sketch. “NO!” She thought, trying again to keep her brain clear. She rounded the corner into the cleaning section. The scent of fresh linen and flowers mixed into her nose. It smelled revolting. She stopped walking and got the attention of the person crossing the aisle.
“Hey, Lady!” She yelled suddenly, this time an exciting smile accompanied her burning red cheeks. The hairs stood up on the back of her neck. This was the strongest urge yet. There was no stopping it. The woman stopped and looked curiously. Kaitlin released the pressure in her bladder. Dark stains blotched around her crotch, then started streaming down her pants. Wet farts popped out of her butt. “I’m going potttyyy!!! Come smelllll!” She said, her voice deepening at the end into a lustful need.
“Oookay Weirdo.” The woman muttered, turning away quickly. Kaitlin’s eyes fluttered up the ceiling, getting the smelly ecstasy she’d been craving

“Ahh…” She sighed in relief, as the last gulp of prune juice dumped into her stomach. It was her fourth bottle this morning. Kaitlin scrunched her face and then pushed down onto her bowels. Lava-like mush pushed into the back of her already messy diaper. It added to the mind-numbing stench of her apartment. Twisting around, she grabbed a tight handful of diaper.
“Mmmm fuck yes.” She thought, then breathed in a deep inhale of the fresh new mess. She smushed it around until her cheeks were caked. That was one of the serious benefits of diapers. Kaitlin could go a lot in them and they wouldn’t plop out the sides of her pants. It allowed the mess to brew for hours. Still, it was always a battle between being messy, and playing in it. This time the latter won. She grabbed the tapes and ripped it off. The diaper fell to the ground. Open like a wet and poopy diaper flower. It accompanied the dozens strewn across the apartment. Plopping her messy butt onto the floor, was the next best part.
“Weeeeeee!” Kaitlin squealed, she scooted her butt across the hardwood floor. The slippery mess made it easy for her to slide around. When she first started doing it she thought it’d be fun to make a pretty pattern of poop skid marks across the floor. That never happened, instead they just crisscrossed chaotically around the house. She crawled her way into the kitchen.
The refrigerator door was wide open. It had been for a couple of weeks now. The smell of rotting food stank badly. Kaitlin dug her face in for a quick inhale out of habit. Hot pleasure shot pinged between her legs. She stood up off the ground, then dug some fingers into herself.
“I’m a stupid messy diaper freak now.” She thought, it burned passionately into her head. She knew it was the ring. All she had to do was take it off. Instead, she started pissing herself. It fell unprotected onto the floor. The hot puddle grew quickly, spreading past her feet. “I’m a fucking toilet.” She thought, knowing that was the truth. Deep in her soul, she knew this was wrong. It flared for a moment. But like any time that popped up, she buried it with all the delicious thoughts of stink. Her stale pissy sheets, poop-covered house, the time she brought her mother over. She got off as a mess dripped between her cheeks and plopped onto the floor

“Kaaiitttliiinnn!! It’s time to come in, Honey!” Megan, one of the caretakers, yelled out from the daycare’s entrance. Kaitlin pursed her lips, grabbed the handles on the jungle gym, then rocked on the balls of her feet. She didn’t realize it, but she was pushing apple sauce like mush into the seat of her diaper. She rocked bashfully as it settled into the wet soggy padding.
“Are you going??” Megan yelled out, Kaitlin shook her head no.
“Nuh-uh!!” She yelled, but that reminder made her take stock. “I goin’ poopy.” Ran through her mind. It made her push harder. Megan sighed, not wanting to fight her this time.
“I’ll let you help me change some diapers!” Megan yelled out.
“OKAY!!” Kaitlin squealed, using the bars to push off into the slide in front of her. She slid down the red tube. It felt hot inside from the sun baking it all day. The smell of her heavily used diaper became incredibly apparent. She couldn’t stop herself. Like a wired monkey, she started rubbing the front of her diaper. Her face melted into lust. “Poo poo… boo booo…” She gurgled, letting infantile thoughts of smelly diapers and snot take over. She didn’t stop when she got to the base.
“No, just let her finish. It’s easier that way.” Megan thought, resigning herself to wait. It only took a couple of minutes. When she dissolved into a floppy drooling mess, she walked over and extended a hand. “Come on, those diapers aren’t going to change themselves.” She said it brought Kaitlin back to life from her zombie state.
“I coming!” She said, hopping up from the slide and grabbing Megan’s hand. Picking the daycare wasn’t that hard of a decision in Kaitlin’s mind. The court had ordered her to choose between it and a boring hospital psych ward. It had been an absolute blast here. It was a lot of fun to not have to think or worry about adult stuff like making money or bills. Besides, this was where all her friends were now!
“Oh, I didn’t notice this ring,” Megan said, turning Kaitlin’s hand over to get a better look at it. “It’s… warm.” She said, “Can I wear it for a second?” She said, already moving for it.
“No iz mine!” Kaitlin said frustrated. She tried yanking her hand away but Megan’s grip was firm around her wrist. “NOOO!!!!” She started to scream frantically as it started to slip off her finger. With her free hand, she tried snatching it, but Megan quickly grasped it and jerked away.
“No. I want to wear it.” She said, the warmth started draining out of Kaitlin’s brain like a flushed toilet. Her eyes drooped as the energy left her. Kaitlin collapsed onto her knees. She groaned, placing a hand on her beating forehead. She heard Megan draw in a deep inhale.
“Oohh my god your diaper smells soooo fucking good. Can I wear it?” She said, digging her face into Kaitlin’s butt.
“No.. what are you…?” Kaitlin said, reality started sinking in. The past two years crashed into her. It was far too overwhelming for even the strongest to take on. “I think I’m…” She said, before she vomited. Extreme disgust left her stomach.
“I wanna wear a diaper.” Megan said, before pushing whatever she had in her body out. It pushed into the back of her panties and peed out into her pants. Kaitlin started to cry. Not just because of everything she had done under the influence of the ring, or even the fact her supposed caretaker was commenting on how lovely her vomit smelled. But rather realizing there was no leaving this life. She'd burned every possible bridge. The second round of apple sauce that squirted out sealed it for her.
