Progress Report 6/11/2021
🕑 Added 2021-06-11 21:40:09 +0000 UTCUgh, summer is near. I hate summer almost as much as I love Friday! Here's what I got done this week:
- Nearly finished work on hands for the 3d model
- Updated the Lab button sprites
- Added additional pages in the Gallery
- Added a film strip in the gallery that allows you to rewatch the end cinematic
- Added a "Watch Cutscene?" confirmation menu for the film strip in the gallery
- Added a hint menu for the film strip in the gallery
- Added fan art to the gallery
- Fixed a bug in which something that wasn't saving was preventing the game from saving
My groove. I found it.
Man it feels great to be making lots of progress again! I'm still not sure what pushed me into that rut I was in, but I feel like I'm out and on top of things again! There's still just a tiny bit more I need to do regarding the Gallery, but once I'm done with it I'll release 1.4.1. Expect it sometime next week!
Oh, speaking of the Gallery, fan art has been added in! If you're an artist of any skill level and would like to submit fan art of Grape Stomp-chan and/or our grape friend, send it to me and it could very well end up in the game! Otherwise, feel free to peruse the museum of Grape Escape. :D (And no need to unlock them; you can view them right off the bat!)

Moving on, I encountered a bit of a bizarre bug. (What's new?) I was trying to change the number of gallery photos in the save system, but it would revert back to the original number every time I started up the game. Turns out the save was loading the old version of the variable and overriding the new one that I was trying to replace it with. It was like playing rock-paper-scissors with my reflection, haha.
After much trial and error (mostly error), I ended up fixing it by deleting my save data and running the game again. Needless to say this is another case where you can't bring old data into the new version. :/ I believe the solution to this problem is proper versioning, but that's still something I'm trying to wrap my head around. I'll try and get that figured out within the next game or two so we can keep our saves between versions.
TL;DR: New update soon! Send fan art of Grape Escape and it could appear in the Gallery! :D
Anyhoo, I'm expecting my Taco Bell to parachute down at any moment, so I gotta go! I'll see you guys again next week!

Oh noooo, that sounds like it would have taken forever to figure out! It's kinda funny to think about a string pretending to be a bool, though. XD You have a great weekend, too! Here's hoping for a week of normal, easy-to-fix bugs! :P

Woooohoooo! \^o^/ Glad you found your groove again. :D And yeah, I had a bizarre bug at work this week, too.... to keep it short: A bool value was for whatever reason verbosed as a string, so even if it was "false" it would check out as true when comparing to an actual true value.... yay. Finding that only took half my nerves. :'D Also yay for fanart! ^-^ And of course you're welcome! :D Have a great weekend! o/
