[#231] ENTER THE BIOSPHERE 2: The Ecology of Fear feat. Reid (Part Two)
🕑 Added 2025-01-15 04:01:59 +0000 UTCDimitri, Khalid, and Reid dig into the sinister undercurrents of the Biosphere 2 experiment itself, including:
The Bass family’s controlling interest in Disney, sus amusement parks, Reagan-era enthusiasm around space exploration, “we must always be the New World”, the NASA cult of personality, Reid and Dimitri getting psyopped at Space Camp, The Wizards of Hokum, Disney’s technofascist EPCOT, the media storm leading up to Biosphere 2, going to hell in John Allen’s bucket, Stanford Prison Experiment vibes, a Lovecraftian collapse of the internal ecosystem, scandals around CO2 scrubbers and external oxygen, Dr. Ray Walford’s beet-centric experimental starvation diet, revelations of sexual abuse by John Allen at Synergia Ranch, and more.

9:00 you know the country pavilions at Disney world - the ones that Baudrillard speaks of, etc.? That rhetoric in the primary footage at the beginning reminded me of that, too. Hyperreal rainforest right next to the hyperreal desert (of the real), or what have you, etc.
