On Better Man, I absolutely love Robbie Williams ever since I was a kid. I went to see him live this year he’s an incredible showman. He started in a band called Take That, are they famous in the US because I’m not really surprised that he’s not big there. He’s famously had trouble with addiction. One of his songs, Angels, was voted the best song of the previous millenium by people in the U.K. who voted wherever that was polled. Every single person in England knows the words to that song. He’s made some massive tunes like Rock DJ, Strong, Supreme, omg I could keep going. But I also like some of his lesser known songs like Advertising Space. He’s a legend. I’d say he’s similar to The Boss in the sense he’s an incredible performer from this working class city that sort of lives in the shadow of other nearby cities. I’m thinking of like New Jersey/New York maybe I’m out of my depth there.

Why does everyone here think movies need a moral ending with all things in the right place? The ending reminded me of Midsommar, where a man gets paralyzed and burned alive in a bear suit, all for being but a shitty boyfriend. That movie slapped and so does this one. Five stars.

I have put some thought into Dave’s “Emmersonian Mind” issue, and thought I would share my conclusions here. Please feel free to ignore them. 1. It is a line that can only be used if somebody is asked to give their personal perspective on an issue, which is not always something that happens with much regularity, and it can also only be used when the situation is relaxed enough that responding with a joke is acceptable, which limits your opportunities even more. Only someone whose personal opinion is in constant demand would have regular opportunities to use that quote. 2. An easier alternative to fit it into everyday speech would potentially be to turn it into a question. Instead of using the line to respond to a request for one’s personal thoughts on an issue, the line could instead be used as a way to ask another person about *their* thoughts, as follows: “Honey, could I plough the riches of your Emmersonian mind for a minute? I’m trying to work out which pasta I should buy for dinner.” “Jeff, Devindra, if I could plough the riches of your Emmersonian minds, what did the two of *you* think about the subject of today’s review, “Morbius: Awakening”?” It comes at the cost of the “You think ***** entitles you…” element, but creates significantly more opportunities to at least make a partial reference to the line in everyday life. Maybe that’s not enough, but my personal thoughts were that this would be at least a partial solution to how awkward the full line is to insert into everyday conversation. 3. On an unrelated note, I liked “It’s What’s Inside”, but thought it went off the rails after the balcony scene. It was still fun, though, and I appreciated the recommendation.

I was completely baffled by Dave’s letterboxd review of Its What’s Inside but makes sense he got bamboozled by the Sundance hype. Terribly convoluted, poor acting, bad characters. Cool concept but feels like so many other filmmakers would do so much more with it.

It’s What’s Inside is an outstanding concept with glorious style and awful characters, a poorly executed premise, a shaky script, and a terrible ending with oddly mean, dubious morality—one star.

That had to be an awful line up at Sundance this year if It’s What’s Inside stood out in anyway as being a ‘sensation’. That film could be the best example on record of turning and intriguing premise into a terrible product

I really enjoyed It's What's Inside, but really did not like the very ending of the movie. (The final scene). SPOILERS: ....... It's ridiculous that being a bad boyfriend means you should spend the rest of your life in prison for something you didn't do (that even your body didn't do). For something that was 100% an accident between two other people and two other bodies.
