Wayne Edwards

I have a love for Chen. 😁

Wil Johnson

I root for Chen because I would love to hear him be insufferable. Also Devendra is right about a lot of the shows he recommends.

Wil Johnson

I would prefer they go back to the normal squad. Too many people this year IMO

As a 23 year old woman who grew up with disney channel movies, I am beyond excited to hear your takes on Lemonade Mouth. Thank you Germain.

This Ends at Prom

Totally cool to disagree but here are my full thoughts on spoiler culture in case you're interested. I also recognize that I'm in the minority with my stance but I certainly don't think it's "nonsense." :) https://www.slashfilm.com/718926/how-i-learned-to-stop-worrying-and-love-the-spoilers-thanks-to-wrestling/

While I agree about the end of the summer, Memorial Day is one of the biggest weekends for the box office. Over 10 films have opened to over 100 million that weekend. Also, Fall Guy was released 4 weekends before Memorial Day.

Brian Deaton

Interesting that there are people out there who didn’t think A Quiet Place Day One sucked.

Mike Gorman

I agree with the exception of the unbelievably bad take on spoilers. That section was nonsense and I could tell Jeff was almost apoplectic.

I think one area you guys are missing in your assessment of the summer (and especially around Fall Guy) is release date on the calendar. A lot of families take vacations right after school lets out after Memorial Day - the same time Fall Guy was released. It also explains the so-so box office at the end of Summer when families are trying to squeeze in a last vacation before school starts. Animation movies always fair better for n Summertime as kids camps will often use a “day at the movies” as one of their camp adventures. There are some significant summertime events that drive families to or keep them away from theaters. I never hear this addressed when it comes to the Summer Movie Wager.

David has implied a number of times that the success of "inside out 2" is being driven by parents who saw "inside out" when they were 'young'. The logic goes that now those parents are taking their kids to see "inside out 2". However, "inside out" came out in 2015, and to me it's not quite the generational audience transition he is claiming it to be.

Carole Mariani

Really enjoyed hearing BJ’s perspective as part of the wager this year!

Stranger2Reality

I always root against Dave and Devindra, simply because Dave is insufferable when he wins, and because I don't want Devindra to feel like he's "educating" everyone with his "superior tastes in movies" with whatever his winning recommendation would be. He's already so exasperated that the other hosts don't just watch the myriad things he insists they must see, and they already end up having to watch and review a bunch of movies only he is interested in as it is. I was rooting for BJ or Jeff to win, but there's always next year.

Stranger2Reality

Here's the thing with Horizon: it's perfectly fine, but it's maybe the most incomplete movie ever made, because it really is just like the first couple episodes of a TV show. I couldn't in good conscience recommend it to anyone, even huge Costner or Western fans, just cause it just randomly ends with like 6 different storylines all nowhere near any kind of conclusion. I would tell people wait until the entire four movie series is completed and then just binge those like you would a season or two of a TV show. If they never make all four movies, then just skip it entirely, as it would be like only ever being able to see half a season of a show that was abruptly canceled halfway through with no resolution whatsoever. I won't watch any more of these until they've all been released.

Mountain of Conflict

I'm rooting for him every year and I'm not ashamed! 😂

Brian Deaton

Just as Costner’s hat sabotaged Horizon, I firmly believe that the sight of Hemsworth’s prosthetic nose in the trailer sank Furiosa. Speaking of Horizon, I have zero interest in three 3-hour movies, but if it had been released as a 10 episode season of tv I would have totally watched it.

Angie Wu

My favorite episode of every year! Another goose egg you didn’t mention was 2017’s Girls Trip. Would love to see more women and women of color participate in the wager!

Anthony Schumacher

Love love love. Lemonade Mouth!!! Watched it with my daughter and we reference it all the time!!

Mountain of Conflict

Terrible box office summer and I still got more points than any of the hosts 😂 Twister$, I told you people!

Wayne Edwards

It. Is. Time! The Downfall Of Chen!! I hope. 😂

AJ Karim
