The film to pair with “Waterworld“ would be Costner‘s first film with director, Kevin Reynolds. A little gem called “Fandango“. This expanded student film was produced by none other than Amblin and has a loyal cult following. It cemented Costner‘s friendship with Reynolds who he championed to direct “Robin Hood“. It’s on my top 10 list of favorite films and I hope you get to experience it!

Regarding food in movies, nobody makes food look more appealing than Tarantino does. From Brad's Big Kahunaburger, to Mia's milkshake, to Bud's frozen margaritas, to Hans Landa's apple strudel (avec la creme), to Stuntman Mike's nachos, to Calvin Candy's white cake, to Minnie’s Haberdashery stew, it all looks absolutely delicious. That man knows how to film food onscreen. Also, as good as In-N-Out's burgers are, they should probably be patronized about as much as Chick Fil A is, given their owner's fairly reprehensible beliefs and behaviors, especially regarding Covid precautions.

That conversation about passion in your 20s was one of my favorites as someone who is 28 preparing to get married while also chasing my passions. It’s great insight into how I may feel in the future and just really appreciate Jeff’s openness. Also I will let Jeff know in 20 years if I regret my tattoos.

I’m so glad it worked out for Dave and Joy to go see Adele in Vegas, and that the show was so great!! Also: much like Jeff (and I don’t often agree with Jeff), I consider myself a REBEL, because my intention is to have no ink on my body and no extra holes in my flesh when my life finally comes to an end. I’m radical that way. Also: I’m making a last-ditch attempt here to have you guys watch EXHUMA, the supernatural horror film directed by Jang Jae-hyun, and starring the great Choi Min-sik (of OLDBOY fame). EXHUMA was in theatres here in the US for only two weeks with practically NO promotion, and now appears to be available streaming on Apple-TV, Google-play and Hudu, as PPV. The movie is not perfect, but it’s great fun, containing moments of beauty, humor, mystery, and some genuinely frightening and creepy sequences. And all the actors are superb! Please seek it out…I’d love to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks! -CDMatthew in Boston

In the absence of widespread adoption of intermissions, I've found the RunPee app to be an invaluable tool for maximizing my bladder comfort-to-theatrical enjoyment ratio. And my wife and I met in a diner, and later had our engagement photos taken at the same diner. That particular culinary setting will always hold a special place for us. I even have good memories of working in one, which would have been insane to hear myself say at the time.

I think bringing back an intermission is a terrible idea. More people will use it to get snacks and refills on drinks than go to the bathroom, and then those that come back late will disturb everyone already seated. And how long do you give them? 10 minutes? 15? People are already complaining about 25 minutes of trailers before a movie and now you’re going to tack on ten minutes to the total running time of a long movie? If you can’t hold it for a few hours, you might have bigger problems !

After hearing Jeff's comments about teachers - I appreciate him even more! I shifted from working in film to teaching and I honestly feel more passion about education than I did about the film industry. I love the job and it means a lot to get that call out from Jeff. On the other side though, I totally see Linklater's point of view. I see my young colleagues going crazy about every detail, stressing themselves out to make sure every lesson is taught immaculately and I look at them (with hopefully wisdom) and think that there also needs to be a balance in life and that one specific decision good (or bad) isn't going to ruin the lesson or the kids.
