How to Build the Perfect Castle early access
🕑 Added 2020-08-28 14:41:40 +0000 UTCDear Patrons,
Here it is, Epic History TV's guide on how to build the perfect castle! I hope you enjoy it and find it informative. I was able to use my dad as a script consultant for this one, as he was a historical architect with English Heritage for many years (and looked after several famous sites, including Dover Castle).
Big thanks to Simon of HistoryRebuilt.com, who created the brilliant 3D model and animations. This is the sort of collaboration made possible by your support here on Patreon, so thank you again for making this video happen.
** I am running the 'merch-for-typos' scheme again - the first person to spot a spelling mistake / obvious error in the video wins one item of their choice from the EHTV store! **
Patreon early access videos are ad- and sponsor-free; however, you might notice a quick reference to the sponsor 'Crusader Kings 3' in this one, as I use their in-game map a couple of times. I wouldn't normally promote a sponsor to you here on Patreon, but seriously - if you play video games and like medieval history, this is one to check out. (You can see my plug for CK3 in the YouTube version if you're interested, or go straight here to Paradox for more info).
I'll be moving on with Napoleon's Marshals Part 2, which I hope to have ready in 3-4 weeks. Thanks again for all your support, I hope you enjoy the video and look forward to hearing what you think!

I don't need to watch the video to know that the best castle is obviously Bonaguil. After all, it was so well-placed it was never attacked.

Thanks Alexandre, glad you enjoyed it! Vauban obviously belongs to a slighter later age, the era of the artillery fort rather than the feudal castle, and I wanted to keep the focus quite tight. But given Vauban's importance, I have been thinking about doing a video on his work.
I thought you would have talked about Vauban, but maybe it'll be for another video. Great video anyway !
