Just got home after seeing Minecraft with my daughters (10 and 12). Some caveats: - Although I am a gamer I have never really played Minecraft. - The movie was dubbed to Swedish. My daughters liked the movie. I am with Dave though. I found the movie atrocious and a real pain to watch. A lot of it didn't make any sense at all on a script level. The one positive thing I can say is that the Visual Effects were really good...but that's about it. If the kids want to re-watch it at home later they will have to do it without me because I am not going through that again.

Anyone else notice Devindra forgetting that Jon Berenthal was in fact featured as The Accountants brother in the first movie? I blame the movie For being so forgettable.

So, for prep for the Summer Movie Wager here's what I've noticed by looking primarily at 2022-2024 with a peek at 2019 for extra context: - there's always 2 animated movies when available - there's always 2 comic book movies when available - 1 dumb action movie always makes it in - 1 Disney remake always makes it (usually in the Top 5) - 1 female-targeted movie always makes it in - Mission: Impossible is usually in the bottom 5 - the May movies usually are in the bottom 5 - legacy sequels always make it somewhere (1, 4, or 7) So, I'm taking all of that in consideration when crafting my list. But even so, I don't think there's an obvious Number 1 and it's possible the animated offerings this year aren't as strong as the live-action remakes. So, there's definitely a degree of unpredictability at play.
