I think the big takeaway from this is that nobody should play football, especially children, but anyone. The science is indisputable. Football has always been a blood sport and now we know just how much blood is involved. I no longer watch football for a number of reasons. Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs) are just the poison icing on the toxic cake. It’s clear that this sport should end. We don’t feed Christians to lions anymore, (although thinking about some of the Christians I know..) But seriously, the TBI is the giant elephant in the room. If we had children we would not allow them to play football, regardless of their wishes or any kind of inherent talent. I wouldn’t allow my child to play in traffic. With the clear evidence it’s beyond irresponsible to let your child play football. The sport should be condemned and banned, and every former player should be provided the best health care possible. The only reason the sport still exists is money. We are killing people out of pure greed. Given the undeniable evidence anyone who perpetuates this sport, especially in schools, should be prosecuted.

I just subscribed to say how wrong the whole Jacoby Brissett thing is around 19 minutes. In between 2016 and 2021 you had Dak Prescott, Patrick Mahomes, Cam Newton, Kyler Murray, Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson, Dwayne Haskins, Tyrod Taylor, Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, Jordan Love, probably more that I’m forgetting, all started games. I genuinely have no idea how you came to that conclusion and have lost many hours of sleep thinking about it. Like you even mentioned Patrick Mahomes! Like yeah racism is an issue in the NFL but the QB position is one of the brighter spots as of late. I also subscribed because I like the episodes and want to listen to more of them.

Re: Eating during sports. Eternally thinking about the very first fighting game tourney I entered and there was a guy in bracket eating chicken nuggets while playing and he won.

That was a big bit of culture shock when I moved to Florida. People really take college football seriously in the South. Im pretty sure it had to do with pro sports ignoring the South when it was growing to be a big deal.

As someone from the USA deep south, I rarely ever heard anyone mention professional football growing up. Like I guess my dad vaguely supported the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? Everything I knew was all about FSU versus UF, Auburn versus Alabama.

I wonder if they make the rss feed a disaster on purpose. No consistent naming like the main podcast, and using the RSS feed in another app every podcast episode length is doubled where the 2nd half is just silence.
