Thanks for this, and for reminding me of Utah. I knew him, if not extremely well, but we met after I was a precocious tween musician sitting in the front row at a Rural Route 3 show in the mid 1990s, and he was the featured headliner. I pestered him in the ensuing years, and he was gracious and encouraging. I soon after mentioned to Larry Penn in passing that I'd met him, and was told to deliver a message from Larry to Utah that he'd "never done a day's work in his life" :-D

I just want to uplift Laim's comment to say that Christian assuming content is ubiquitous and the unexamined nature of it is terrifying. If you are Christian hegemonic it may be very difficult to see it but I urge you to try because it looks like saying christianity is the best option and the only option for politics, no matter the original politics of the artist
