Just wanted to pop in like a year later and say that "I just flew in from Love Field and boy is the back of my head tired" is one of my all-time favorite Alice jokes
Philip Malcolm
"Mercy for the Dulles Brothers"... is that a Mountain Goats reference, Alice?
what's your favorite Lynard Skynard album? for the southerners

Cosgrove: "Hey Freakazoid, wanna go punchout Lee Harvey Oswald?" Freakazoid: "Do I? Yes! Yes!" Lesson: Cosgrove knows how to get consent, be like Cosgrove.

Just saw Roz speaking on the Bad Faith podcast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyaCBwrdY1A Nice to see some dude on a (good) podcast that's usually populated by Ivy Leaguers

the kennedys all seem to be alergic to living
Would love a JFK Jr. episode, especially since that involves ~planes.
Cholula Hot Sauce
ooh, fireworks factory would be good.
mk
By the way: Kennedys father was the US ambassador in London. He apparently had ambitions to become US president but his abhorrent lobbying for „making a deal with Hitler“ (like Stalin did when they divided Poland and with that started WW2) cut that short. Good effing riddance..
mk
Hope you‘re recovering and/or enjoying your off-time. There‘s a long PBS (?) documentary out there that‘s pretty conclusive. I wonder what‘s next, a neat refinery disaster or fireworks manufacturing facility would be a change.
Tore Nielsen
John Hinckley's mom did it. Hint: she even named her son after his deadbeat president dad.
Matt
Also the book Havana Nocturne is a great condensation of the vibe in Cuba right before the Revolution, plus the extent of American mafia connections there.
Harry Sullivan
This argument swiftly debunked by the fact that, if he did it, he was reliable enough to do it.
Harry Sullivan
When you guys debunking MKUltra?
Matt
South Carolina barbecue is mustard, Best Carolina is either tomato or vinegar depending on which side of the state you’re on.
Allen
Jackie absolutely did it, yes
btw the two men convicted for assassinating Malcom X were recently exonerated
Guy who has only researched the Georgi Markov assassination learning about Umbrella Guy: getting a lot of Georgi Markov vibes from this

To Justin's question there are like three floors that are still show rooms, one or two of which are only for people with private designers or getting custom pieces. The rest is mostly office space as far as I know.

Hey there, first time long time from Chicago. Thank you for shouting out Da Merch. It does rule.

There is no contemporary source for Gavrilo Princip eating a sandwich, it is a widely circulated myth with its earliest known mentions being in 2001 and 2003. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/gavrilo-princips-sandwich-79480741/
Wrong it was the mob and Free Masons who killed him
Allen
All that is true, Alex. And it’s worth mentioning that the FBI entrapment schemes and such are designed so that the FBI can arrest them and claim that they FOILED attacks, thereby justifying continued funding of the security state while reassuring the public that the FBI is “protecting Americans against terrorism.” Seems a bit different from Oswald being manipulated into actually killing the President.
Allen
lol

Maybe you should actually do some research. No one who believes that there was a broader scheme by the deep state to kill JFK thinks so solely because it feels "off" or "sus". Like what about the fact that Oswald was a CIA asset? That he palled around with Jack Ruby, another CIA asset who did gun runs into cuba? Or that he was allowed to return from Soviet Russia after renouncing his citizenship without any trouble, with his russian-born wife? Read "JFK and the Unspeakable" or listen to True Anon's JFK episode. Or you can listen to the JFK episode of "Death is Just Around the Corner" by Mike Judge. It might be on his Patreon though, it used to be available for free. Oliver Stone did a documentary you can watch: "JFK Revisited". I trust these guys (and gal) to analyze engineering disasters, but I don't trust their research on this.
Jordon E Perez
You all make a wonderful podcast but this episode isn't very well researched
MG
Still prefer the TrueAnnon coverage of the JFK assassination
Alex Roselle
right? typical leftist logic to look at structures and institutions until they forget about individuals having agency [/s]
Alex Roselle
there's so many more effective means of manipulating people: money, coercion, ideology, sex, blackmail, etc., that there's no need to rely on exotic CIA "brainwashing". This isn't an argument for or against Oswald being part of a conspiracy, just saying. (Credit to the recent "Behind the Bastards" podcast series on MK-ULTRA for underlining this point.)
Alex Roselle
I just saw an autopsy photo on Wikipedia and I feel like I understand this
Alex Roselle
My theory of US presidential assassinations is that there is one for each quadrant of the Political Compass (Czolgosz lib-left, Oswald auth-left, Booth auth-right, and Guiteau lib-right just because he doesn't fit anywhere else). If, gods forbid, there's ever another, I may revise this rubric.

I lost my shit at “making the POTUS suddenly very neurodivergent”. I had to pause for about 20 minutes
Robert Young
The Dictabelt was recording the radio traffic on the police radio. Some motorcycle cop's microphone was stuck "open", so it recorded everything that came through.
Robert Young
That's my favorite Onion headline: Kennedy slain by CIA, Mafia, Castro, Teamsters, Freemasons - President shot 129 times from 43 different angles.
Robert Young
There's a lot of great material which has been written over the last few decades on the CIA's various programs in the 50s and 60s to produce mind control, influence people, extract the truth, etc. All of those projects and programs ended in failure. There's no way to "brainwash" someone. There's no way to get them to do what you want them to do in a specific situation.
As a person with family in the Dallas area, can confirm "Nut Country."

Interestingly, a person from my home town was on the Warren Commission.
I wrote a senior thesis about the eroticization of JFK's dead body.

Guys… You are able to make podcast teasers. Make a full podcast!!
Allen
What all “the CIA/Deep State/Mob killed JFK” conspiracy theorists miss is the fact that Kennedy was an easily blackmailed President, both in terms of his comically scandalous sex life and his really shitty physical health. Indeed, the Secret Service were always terrified that JFK would be killed or compromised during one of his innumerable one-night stands. And finally Kennedy was in a vulnerable position electorally for 1964, specifically in the Southern states which hadn’t yet gone Republican but were already full of angry Dixiecrats who had never accepted Kennedy and were even more furious after he gave a televised White House address in June 1963 in support of a strong federal civil rights law—which is what eventually became the Civil Rights Act of 1964, signed into law by LBJ. Also, if JFK wanted to undermine the CIA and other NatSec agencies, it’s not like he (or his brother) had clean hands on any of the coups and assassination plots against foreign leaders—and the CIA surely knew that. So why go to the trouble of committing high treason against the US itself with all that in mind (as opposed to assassinating or trying to assassinate the leaders of countries in the developing world, ie scary foreign brown people who may or may not be under a Communist government, but in any case would cause much less domestic political backlash than killing the fucking US President). It doesn’t make any sense and sorry, I’m gonna need better evidence of a conspiracy than “this seems sus” or “what about Jack Ruby.”
Nick B.
This doesn’t even have to be at the level of MKULTRA brain fuckery, the fbi manipulates mentally ill people all the time into terrorist acts that they can then stop and plaudits for. Though i suspect we’ll never know the success of MKULTRA. It seems that if it worked, the CIA would have every reason not to advertise its success
Allen
Did MKULTRA actually “work” though? I mean, in the sense that the subjects actually did what the CIA wanted them to do. Or did it just seriously and permanently fuck up a lot of people’s brains. I suspect it was the latter.
Allen
thanks. important not to steal US Army valor on Joe Kennedy Jr’s behalf.
Nobody ever suspects Jackie, but if my husband was off partying and banging his mistress on his buddy's yacht in the Mediterranean when I had a stillbirth and the only reason he came home was because his friend told him it would wreck his chances at winning the election I would spend several years planning and executing an over-elaborate way of murking his ass.
etienne
emphasis on nasty
ZombieDwarf
The best part about having a brit on this podcast is that it let's me say "emphasis on the 'die' part" when Alice calls the Kennedys a political dynasty.
Joe Kennedy Jr was a *naval* officer, not a USAAF officer his service records are available here https://catalog.archives.gov/id/74871660

I love the Phillies updates throughout the ep

nah I believe there was a second and a third and a fourth and a fifth shooter, being from the mob, secret service, ussr and the cia respectively positioned in various positions and after oswald took the first shot they both tried to shoot oswald for stealing the kill independently of each other similar to how in italian politics there are always every single conspiracy theory going off at once
hey would someone be able to share the link of the bonus episodes playlist? wanna go back and watch some of the old ones
William Chamberlain
Come on - we all know Kissinger did it
Nick B.
I disagree, but understand your point. this is the golden age of cia psychological experimentation. Oswald would appear to someone easy to manipulate in a similar way that the fbi constantly sets up mentally ill muslim men for fake terrorist attacks.
Robert Young
There are a bunch of arguments against that, not least of which is that if you were going to put someone up to assassinating the President, you'd want someone who was reliable.
etienne
wow I didn't know Oswald did it because he was an Incel
Steeeeve
I can't believe you guys are laughing at this. Presidents heads only explode when they're VERY distressed
C. Riley Hickman
Lee Harvey Oswald is a socialist hero and its counterrevolutionary to suggest otherwise :P
frack.the.moon
ok cia sure he was
Petey
Oswald was one of several people involved in the plot to kill Kennedy.
Nick B.
I think they did a good job of arguing that it was probably oswald who pulled the trigger, but I see no reason why a faction in the cia, cuban exiles and the mob couldn’t have put Oswald up to it and then killed him and Jack Ruby. The house select committee on assassination later would conclude that it was entirely possible oswald didnt work alone.
Robert Young
Joseph P Kennedy was a stock broker in the 20s, which is where the real family money came from. It's often been said he was made the first head of the SEC because he knew every possible stock scam and swindle, as he's pulled them all on his way up.
